Final Fantasy V Four Job Fiesta 2018 #regNatural Part IV

It seems that I must've screwed up the sound settings for my next streamed session, which happened on July 26th.

Cray Claw was an easy fight, given some lightning scrolls, and then we triggered a bunch of scenes.

For the Adamantoise, I remembered that he had an ice weakness and used an empowered Shiva. Despite his high defenses really making the monk useless, the battle was quick. Then I intentionally took my air-capable ship across the seas to see about getting a few more dropped lightning scrolls because those would be useful for the Soul Cannon.

It was... kind of hard to tell whether I was overlevelled or not. In the early game, I certainly thought I was overlevelled and I felt powerful, but Liquid Flame and Byblos had seemed like very appropriate challenge levels. Soul Cannon can be pretty nasty for some Four Job Fiesta parties and I didn't think it was a bad idea to put in some extra preparation.

Given that it was near the end of world 1 and the problems some parties have in world 2, this session got pretty darn grindy. First there was all of the ocean grinding and then some Wild Nakk grinding so buy rings in Istory. I actually did end up getting four flame rings, just as I did in my concurrent run.

When I actually decided to head up to the earth crystal and the Soul Cannon, things looked like this:
Stats before Sol Cannon

The Soul Cannon fight... well, I was prepared. It wasn't scary. Between the abundant lightning scrolls and the empowered Ramuh summons, it wasn't bad at all. I didn't even end up being hit by wave cannon.

The ruins weren't particularly confusing or challenging except for a fight with a Ghidra that I wasn't particularly smart about, even healing it with Ramuh. It took some time and the team was damaged a good bit, but I won without consuming any significant resources.

I didn't remember the exact setups that would facilitate an easy Archeoavis fight; I just knew it started weak to air, which isn't an element I had access to. I said, "I don't have any air; I have violence! Violence is like air." Once again, healing was an issue; unless I wanted to dip into very rare, high-quality consumables, my healing was Sylph, Chakra and Mighty March's very tiny, sparse regen ticks. I used a fair number of hi-potions, which are not yet buyable.

I forgot how the end of the battle went, too. I thought during the final phase of the fight, when Archeoavis was revived, that he was undead. I recalled also that there was some point where he became vulnerable to Level 5 Death (which I do not have) so maybe I was just mis-remembering details. I tried Ifrit vs. that revived phase, and it did nothing. I tried throwing a phoenix down, too! But that was a big waste. Once again, the solution was plain ol' violence.

The defeat of Archeoavis

To prepare for Titan, Purobolos and Manticore, I actually did the schtick where I went back to the first mountain area in the game and confused the flying Gaelicat enemies using Alluring Air so that they cast float on us. This greatly mitigates the danger of the Titan fight and is a pretty nice strategy for parties with access to confusion (or Control). It may have been a mistake to do this before these other minor boss fights given that a character might could certainly bite the dust in the meantime...

Purobolos was easy with Shiva. Titan was easy with float status (or, more accurately, it was Romeo's Ballad that trivialized him this time). Manticore was nothing special but, again, he was susceptible to Romeo's Ballad. And with that we wrapped up the first world!
