As happens every so often, this video got chopped up because of stream issues or something.

We were starting at the very beginning of Galuf's world with a three-person party, where you need to use a tent to proceed. This part of the game is balanced around underperforming teams, since the party is divided for a short while, so nothing was the least bit remarkable until Big Bridge.

Lenna was still fairly new to having the random-but-free !Call ability which was generally much better to use than a normal attack when conserving MP was valuable. This is one of those skills that is stronger in the mid-game than it is later on; later on, a random non-weakness Shiva or Ramuh isn't particularly valuable, but right now pretty well any summon can help.

I wasn't sure whether I could stun-lock Gilgamesh with Romeo's Ballad but it didn't really matter. Everyone other than Bartz (Bard) was able to pile on the damage. Faris dealt fairly good damage when the criticals came out - and they did - but I could already feel that the monk's damage wasn't going to be up-to-snuff for long. Everyone's damage dropped substantially after Gilgamesh's buffs. But it was fine.
Gilgamesh forgot something

After that, I was doing most fights while just holding down A with memory cursor on, and Bartz was using Romeo's Ballad. It's really quite broken how effectively it stun-locks such a high proportion of the game's random enemies. Any time you see it actually animate, you know it has worked... and I saw it a lot.

I stumbled through the watery cave, avoiding some battles and intentionally fighting others while stun-locking all enemies. The Tyrannosaur fight was somewhat interesting; it seemed like I had really good damage potential, between ninja and monk violence plus Ifrit. I was considering just pounding on it instead of cheesing it with a phoenix down. I also thought I would test out using a holy water against it! I was surprised that instead of killing undead enemies in this game, holy water just does pitiful damage against them.

I am not sure whether Tyrannosaur has some specific AI cue for targetting a certain class or character, but eventually, the Tyrannosaur, who had been picking on Lenna a lot, did this:
3626 damage
So yeah, I used a phoenix down. I didn't know this guy could make numbers like these pop up.

Leaving Bal / Val castle, Abductor was also really easy because of Romeo's Ballad.

Maybe wondering if Romeo's Ballad could break the game, I tried out Gil Turtle. It turns out neither Romeo's Ballad nor the ninja's Smoke command works against Gil Turtle. I abandoned ship pretty quickly. Or, perhaps more accurately, I was killed.
Gil Turtle is mean

I went through Qelb, which gives access to Requiem for Bartz and a whole bunch of strength-boosting gear that I figured might help with Faris' longevity. Requiem makes the worst aspects of Drachenvale a lot easier, including the fight where you rescue Golem. So now Golem is on our side!

This team has a lot of advantages against Dragon Pod. Dragon Pod's weakness could be said to be multi-target attacks, and we've got throw, kick and summon... not to mention Romeo's Ballad. I don't believe we even took damage.
I didn't catch it fading out, but this was, in fact, the killing blow

I went to Surgate Castle which was... mostly a waste of time, really, but I was able to get Swift Song / Hastemarch... and then I headed over to Xezat's fleet.

Battle sort of started to become more strategic than it had been when I got to Gilgamesh for our second battle. I was able to use Mighty March to set Regen, Golem for defense, and I even got the silence status triggered on Gilgamesh using a Mage Masher. With a lucky critical and a Gaia Gear-empowered Titan, Gilgamesh went down way before Enkidu... who didn't end up posing much of a challenge on his own.
Enkidu's shadow is partly visible here

After this, I saved in the base of the Barrier Tower. I didn't have a grand plan for fighting Exdeath at this point so I thought I might end up grinding dropped Reflect Rings from the Reflect Knights here. It seems Romeo's Ballad works on them, so that's a treat.
