This was played on or around March 14, 2022.

I started this session in Dragon World. I played less than an hour and figured I may only actually finish the dragon race. Excitingly, I was able to get Dragon Armor here, which gives resistance to common elements and is generally good protection. I put it on both Bart the knight and Fari the thief.

Stats seemed to be shaping up, especially for Fari. Kril has some general development issues; she doesn't really have any offensive options, ever, and has ended up with middling statistics all around. I bought Kril a Prayer spellbook as a way to maybe boost her mana growth.

Y'know, the idea of a knight who carries around four swords with each based around different effects and attributes is kind of awesome.

I started out with some grinding; I am not really sure why. I tried a few spots to find an ideal spot for battling that was easy enough to clear quickly and hard enough to have a good chance of stat gains, ultimately settling on Guardians' World. In retrospect, I am not sure this was an ideal spot... and I am not sure the grind was really necessary at this point anyway.

Here are our stats starting the dragon race:
Stats starting the dragon race

There's an enemy in the race - I am not sure whether it's guaranteed or if it depends on which steed you select - called a Watcher. The Watcher is one of those opportunities to fight a specifically higher-ranked enemy such that you have a chance to grow characters in a certain way; I didn't aim for any particular outcome, though.

Some of the dragon race enemies are tough! A battle with Mercenars and Moths resulted in Lenn having his face shot off before he could act, and given the large group size he was really the only one who was going to be able to fight back. Thus, with that encounter and a few others, I had to run. The Lamias were tough, too, although the Dragon Armor helped a bit given their poison resistance.

I had been hyping up the Watcher and given some of the tough battles I had encountered, I was pretty worried about it. I decided to take it seriously, with my three offense-capable characters picking relatively useful actions. I was expecting someone to get wiped by a Beam or something, but that didn't happen. Bart took it out on turn 1:

...although giving Bart credit for this is pretty questionable, really. Fari did more than quadruple that much damage.

I went into Edo, and ran away from several consecutive battles with Gae Bolgs. Gae Bolgs are maybe my least favourite enemy in the game, actually.

Get out of our way!!

I fought the Hatamotos. Despite their strength and weaponry, everybody survived and gained something from the Hatamotos. I also bought a CatClaw for Fari and Kimonos for the mages.
