The second session for my VYUOKITE Avengers team was played on May 29th, 2017.

In the VOD, I start by referring to this as a "challenge" but I wouldn't say that nowadays. This is decidedly not a challenge, but instead just a busted version of normal gameplay. It's certainly not a challenge given the "quality of life" codes I have been using, which were amended to be even more generous starting in this session. This playthrough is much more a matter of curiosity, answering the question of, "what happens when you do this?" rather than, "can a person do this?".

We got absolutely absurd amounts of money and quite a bit of experience pretty quickly. We're truly removing money as a factor impacting the team's performance. We returned to Elfland with over 25000 bucks to spend on level 3 and 4 magic. We promptly ran out of money as Thor, Cap, Iron and Luke are actually eligible to learn quite a few different level 4 magic spells, which cost 4000 G each.

Thor and Cap are still doing 400+ damage regularly with their Wooden Staves that look like knives, so things aren't super hard, but given Luke's very low HP total (9 max HP at level 8), he still dies every so often. Luckily, one of my three active QoL codes is XVSPNLAV, which makes dead and petrified characters gain experience normally.

With level 8, we headed for the Marsh Cave. Check out our current spell slot allocations. Luke died immediately outside of the Marsh Cave.
A Geist destroys Luke Cage.
I decided not to bother reviving him, especially with that experience code in play.

I went for the various chests. There's not really anything in the way of new equipment here, so I kind of knew none of these things were viable upgrades for my team and I was more doing these parts for the sake of playing. And play we did! There are no particular notes or challenges of any sort until the Wizards.

The Wizards were somewhat interesting. While they weren't really hard in that they didn't last long up against Thor and Cap, they could deal rather respectable damage and really put a dent in the team.

I decided to save a bit of time by going directly to Astos rather than trekking back to Elfland for a heal.
Astos was beaten in a single action.
Well, that was simple. Thor took the first action of the battle. I was trying to be all strategic anticipating a RUB spell, but Astos had no chance to act.

Doing the post-Astos fetchquest marathon is a bit fun because we get to check whether the party is able to use goodies like the Rune Sword, Were Sword and Dragon Sword. Let's itemize all those newly-available... items.
  • Copper Gauntlet: nobody.
  • Silver Hammer: nobody.
  • Silver Knife: Luke only. Well, that's good, in a way.
  • Iron Shield: nobody.
  • Rune Sword: nobody.
  • Were Sword: nobody.
  • Iron Helmet: nobody.
  • Dragon Sword: nobody.
  • Silver Armor: nobody.
  • Falchon: nobody.
  • Long Sword: nobody.
  • Steel Armor: nobody.
  • Iron Gauntlet: nobody.
  • Silver Bracelet: everybody!
That's somethin'. Oh well. Later on we'll probably get Gold Bracelets and ProRings for everybody (and Ribbons for some) to make the endgame viable. Until then, we've got completely broken stats on Thor and Cap.

As well, Cap is my only character who can learn the LIFE spell. Thor couldn't learn anything new, but level 5 magic is pretty great, so I was excited to see the options for everyone else. HEL2 has a very strong in-battle effect due to a bug, so I was also pretty happy that a few of them got HEL2.

Great, but we're pretty well out of money again. Since we can't buy anything else, let's go into the Earth Cave.

We ran from a lot of battles in the Earth Cave, especially things that could poison us and battles with several enemies where we had the first strike. We got the Coral Sword, although that didn't do us any good. Otherwise, nothing hard up to the Vampire. I accidentally fast-forwarded the Vampire fight and didn't even see what happened, but I guess that means I won.

We got out without anything crazy happening (no petrification!) and went directly through the Titan's Tunnel to get the Rod. Nobody could use the Silver Helmet or Great Axe, either. Luke died immediately outside of Sarda's house, but now we've got a way to bring him back if we decide it's important... which I didn't at the moment.

We went back to the Earth Cave entrance, used Cap's LIFE spell to revive Luke, then used a House to restore our MP and then a Cabin to save properly (due to FF1's MP restore bug). With lots of spells I'm sure we'll have no problem dealing with Lich.
