[This entry is adapted from the original GameFAQs posts written around the time the gameplay took place in May of 2016. It is actually being posted in March of 2023 around the origin of this blog. There may be minor edits.]
Between play sessions, I tried to gauge whether anyone else on the board wanted to do a similar playthrough. I thought it was really fun and I kept coming up with weird crap I could ban for others, so I really wanted this to happen! Unfortunately this did not become as trendy as Diamond_Dragon's Gratitude Challenge.
The majority of the play in this session was re-attempting the trek to Crescent Lake.
I really wanted to draw things out and sort of "power up" since I was encountering hard parts now - both Earth Cave and the forests of Crescent Lake seemed daunting. Thus, I bought level 2 and level 4 magic for Mars, as well as some equipment from Melmond. I tried to go to Crescent Lake again, had one TPKO (not particularly noteworthy or interesting) and thus gave up. Procrastinating the trip into Crescent Lake that I thought was so important, I went into the Earth Cave and got the Coral Sword (which helps!) and fought a couple of giants.

Because of the debacle where I permanently failed to acquire Silver Swords earlier, the Coral Sword was an upgrade to the Long Sword for one of my fighters who in a normal game would be unlikely to ever wield either. Coral Sword is 19 damage, 15 hit rate, 13 effective critical rate as opposed to the Long Sword's 20 damage, 10 hit rate, 7 effective critical rate. Especially for those levels where the extra 5 hit rate allows you to get an extra hit, it's great. Right now Wood was level 12, and I knew I'd get that extra hit at level 14.

What to do now? I'm finding the foresty path to Crescent Lake pretty awful. I'd really like that silver gear before my Earth Cave runs. LordMorgren has me thinking I should do a little bit of giant grinding before doing either Crescent Lake or Earth Cave.
