The fourth update about this quest featuring Red the red mage, Draggy the dragoon, White the white mage, and maybe someone else is based entirely on gameplay from March 13th.
I realized pretty quickly that in the previous update I said that the Blood Sword was just a souvenir... however, it didn't need to be, since Freel would end up joining our party as a freelancer eventually.
We entered the Cyclone.

Fights here were tough at times. We could neutralize a lot of encounters with Draggy's Osmose spell and White's Blink spell, but in the setup time we'd sometimes get walloped by a golem or a General. Every so often they could still hit us through Blink, too. Mostly though, this was fairly reliable as a defensive strategy.
I shall dub this strategy the Osblink. The shorthand will be handy, since it's going to come up again.
We got a Defender here - which isn't useful - and a Diamond Armor which Draggy was able to use to resist a whole lot of elements.

There was a Green Dragon in here, too. Red used Thunder for solid damage, and Draggy was able to Osmose all of its MP on the first turn, too. Osblink. It was easier than some of the randoms, like Generals.

Next, we encountered the Emperor. He makes us fight two random encounters first, and they happened to just be two Royal Guards each. It was pretty trivial and silly. Red and White actually uses Teleport to disappear all four of these final Royal Guards.

The Emperor... wasn't really any harder. We just had to Osblink, removing his magic and making ourselves incredibly evasive.

We had a dance but it turns out there is still a shadow over Palamecia!

Cid donated his airship and we had to walk from Fynn to Poft to get it. Along the way, we got a Haste Tome, probably from the now-ubiquitous Sorcerers. With that, we have completed Red's spell list.

The Generals remained pretty much the nastiest random enemies. They really took a few good slices out of the team, even the heavily-armored Draggy.

Against the Imperial Shadow (who is a monster-in-a-box), we did a strat where Red used Haste on Ricard and Draggy used Berserk on Ricard. Even with Haste at a low level, this was a little busted.

I shall dub this strategy the Hastezerk. The shorthand will be handy, since it's going to come up again.
We got a Thunder Spear here, which is another boost for Draggy. We got a Rune Axe from a random fight, too, I think from a Mythril Golem. This would be exciting if we had an axe-wielder. Some enemy that wasn't a boss dragon also happened to drop a Dragon Armor. Well that's pretty nice! This allowed a much improved equipment loadout.

Next we found the new Emperor, Freel, and the old Emperor, Emperor.

Consequently, Ricard went to the postgame and Freel joined us. His HP is really low but his combat-oriented stats were way better than my other party members. I decided that since we can get Excalibur, since we have the Blood Sword, and since the Masamune is coming up that I'd want Freel to be a two-sword guy.

We headed to the Jade Passage. Freel's stamina is high enough that he was catching up reasonably well. He could still get utterly destroyed by strong enemies like golems and Abyss Worms.

White got a Diamond Mace here, which would be his final weapon.

We fought the King Behemoth just for fun; I remembered that it dropped a Rune Axe - which I've already got - but I didn't want to just leave this fella in a treasure box forever. We defeated it very quickly by Hastezerking Freel.

There's a treasure room here full of super excellent equipment: the Aegis Shield, the Holy Lance, and a Dragon Armor. The Aegis Shield and Holy Lance are excellent for Draggy and it was nice to have a Dragon Armor on Freel, too. The Holy Lance would end up as Draggy's final weapon.

Hastezerking Freel wrecks most of the bulkier random encounters, as long as nobody got clobbered too badly in round 1.

Abyss Worms are quite clearly the bigger problem.

Almost right away once we entered Pandaemonium we fought some Death Knights. They're almost as tough as the Abyss Worms. The first ones gave us a Ribbon.

Again, every so often an enemy could ruin us with a lucky hit. This Mythril Golem did over 1600 damage to White in one hit. Now, he is just legs.

We got into the part of Pandaemonium where there are neat-looking bosses with okay treasure. I barely even noticed that I beat Zombie Borghen.

As I got the new equips, I gave pretty well all of them to Freel to compensate for his lower HP. He also got the Masamune.

I recall Tiamat absorbing just about every element, so I just Hastezerked Freel. It took one round. This surprised me, so I didn't get a screenshot of it going down. With that, we got the Genji Helm, and Freel put it on.

Beelzebub? Hastezerked Freel. Genji Armor get.

We did the same thing to Astaroth, although Astaroth happened to last two rounds instead of just one. This got us another Ribbon, so Red and White each have one now.

With this, we were at the Emperor for the third or fourth time. Or maybe fifth, kinda. Hm. Our stats were like this:

The Emperor started with Flare a couple of times, but it really wasn't that strong.

Then, we applied the Osblink, and the Hastezerk, in that order. We actually used a couple of Bacchus's Wine items to use Berserk more quickly, and applied Hastezerk to all three of Red, Draggy and Freel.

After the Osblink, the Emperor stopped being able to hurt us. And with our triple-Hastezerked assault, he didn't last long.

We didn't end up even using that Blood Sword.
Great, we won!

I mean, I guess we're done... but I'm gonna save a clear file anyway.

Personally, I want to find out how Minwu the white mage, Josef the monk, Ricard the dragoon, and Scott (whose vocation remains uncertain) are doing in Hell, or wherever they are.
