I played a teensy bit more after seeing trenzer's message and the few nice extra gifts it provided. I decided that I should get the second Laco-Armor for Wren, so I went to Vahal Fort. While I was there, I beat Daughter's Dominators to get the 80000 meseta and Sparked a lot of Lifedeletrs.

I also took a little sidetrip to get the Silvr-Tusk because I had realized De-Vars was going to be sucky. In terms of the offense I have available for both De-Vars and Sa-Lews:

Chaz with Lasr-Sword:
Attack: 124 power
Crosscut: 204 power
Githu: 150 power
Rayblade: 230 power
Everything else: 1 damage

Rune:
Attack with Guard-Rod: 67 power (not seriously considering this)
Tandle: 229 power
Wat: 117 power
Everything else: 1 damage

Rika with Silvr-Tusk/Genocyclaw:
Attack: 153 power
Everything else: 1 damage

Wren:
Flare: 203 power
Everything else: 1 damage

It would seem I may have been afraid of nothin'.

De-Vars and its' Tower

For some reason, despite my trepidation, this is the one I decided to take on first. I went in with Wren in the lead, and then when I got to the top of the tower (without opening a single box besides the Guard-Rod I had already yoinked) I swapped Rune to the front position, Wren to the second, and finally swapped Rika's two Silvshields for the two claws I'm allowed in the game.

Round 1: Rune: Def, Wren: Def, Rika: Deban, Chaz: Pow-Shield
Round 2: Rune: Def, Wren: Def, Rika: Saner, Chaz: Attack
Round 3: Rune: Def, Wren: Def, Rika: Pow-Shield, Chaz: Attack

You can probably see how it would've gone from here on out. With Wren and Rune going first and defending, they were consistently taking 1 damage from De-Vars, who only used regular attacks. Rika and Chaz took considerably higher damage; I honestly don't recall him hitting Chaz at all, but Rika was taking 90ish, so when that happened, rather than risk Wren and Rune, I'd just have Chaz or Rika deal with it. Their damage ended up being pretty respectable and frankly it was one of the safest fights I've had in the whole game.
The aftermath of the battle with De-Vars
Status post De-Vars

You'll notice the chests in that status image. My inventory was basically full and I forgot whether you actually need to take the rings to proceed with the game... so I left without the rings. It turns out, indeed, you do, so I ended up coming back here later and slaughtering some randoms in protest.

Sa-Lews

I just rolled on through this tower. No chests. Order was back to Wren, Rika, Rune, Chaz. Rika had shields back on. Strategy was different, because I was going to win without regular attacks.

Round 1: Wren: Barrier, Rika: Saner, Rune: Tandle, Chaz: Pow-Shield
Round 2+: Wren: Flare, Rika: heal of some sort, Rune: Tandle (until it was gone, then Wat), Chaz: Crosscut

I don't even know if I ran out of Crosscut. But I realized that with the Lasr-Sword equipped, Crosscut was still really strong. I didn't do the math at the time, but it turns out this was smart and Pow-Shield Lasr-Sword Crosscut is stronger than Rayblade by about 20 points. I could've picked another strategy, skipped the Pow-Shield, and used other abilities but now I'm just being stupidly hyperanalytical. This wasn't hard so I should shut up.

Of course, Tandles were bad news for Wren. I never even bothered getting Repair-Kits back but I doubt I'd use them here regardless. Managing the mini-team was quite easy. I believe I used two Trimates after a few Flaelis that kept targeting Rika.

Aftermath of the battle with Sa-Lews

Here, I picked up the Algo and Rykr rings. Went to talk to Le Roof (who is on fire) and had to get the others, blah blah blah.

Sacred Sword Cave

I couldn't help myself from spending a few minutes on (probably unnecessary) grinding here. Chaz took two runs at the cave exhausting TP.
For those of you who don't know, this is arguably the most efficient time to grind in the whole game: members who aren't in the party get experience based on whatever the active team learns, and at this point you've got exactly one party member in the active team. Every single enemy you defeat gives EVERY character - including Hahn, etc. - 1000 exp. And at any point Chaz can walk backwards and talk to Rune for an on-the-spot free full heal.

On a related note, with how often my party members die, especially against bosses, I fully expected Hahn and Gryz to have awesome levels compared to Rika and Kyra. Other reasons, too.

Turns out I was right:
Hahn at level 45:

Gryz at level 48:
Gryz at level 48
Demi at level 44:

Raja at level 42:

Kyra at level 42:

Of course I rolled back the save after that to keep a 4-character party. I need to get Megid first, so those levels are likely to increase.

Status:
Wren (Level 40, 147 Def, 28 Res, 123 Atk)
Equipment: Stun-Shot, Laco-Armor
Techs: (none)
Skills: Flare [207 power, 22 uses], Spark [14 uses], Barrier [10 uses], Burstroc [223 power, 6 uses]

Rika (Level 49, 167 Def, 63 Res)
Equipment: Silv-Crown, Silvshield, Silvshield, Psy-Mail
Techs: Gires, Saner, Deban, Gisar
Skills: (none)

Rune (Level 41, 158 Def, 106 Res)
Equipment: Silvcirclt, Silvshield, Silvshield, Silv-Mantl
Techs: Foi [112 power], Wat [120 power], Hinas, Ryuka
Skills: Hewn [152 power, 14 uses], Tandle [232 power, 7 uses]

Chaz (Level 46, 137 Def, 61 Res, 196 Atk)
Equipment: Swift-Helm, Elsydeon, Psy-Mail
Techs: Hinas, Ryuka, Gires, Githu [152 power], Nazan [184 power]
Skills: Crosscut [276 power, 16 uses], Rayblade [232 power, 7 uses]

If I were to collect a partner and their accessible gear now:

Hahn (Level 45, 168 Def, 99 Res)
Equipment: Silvcirclt, Silvshield, Silvshield, Mahlaymail (I could use daggers instead, but they'd be Tornddaggrs, it wouldn't be strong enough to be worthwhile)
Techs: Wat [104 power], Gires, Nazan [200 power]
Skills: Astral [240 power, 9 uses]

Gryz (Level 48, 109 Def, 51 Res, 132 Atk)
Equipment: Struggleax, Psy-Mail (could swap in Chaz's Swift-Helm; ignoring that, if upgraded to a Defeat-Axe, Def goes up 8 and Atk goes up 82)
Techs: (none)
Skills: War Cry [Atk up by 94, 18 uses], Sweeping [132 power, 15 uses]

Demi (Level 44, 151 Def, 28 Res)
Equipment: Laco-Armor (if I brought her, I'd absolutely swap Wren's Stun-Shot to her as he has more offensive options; her Atk would be 116)
Techs: (none)
Skills: Barrier [10 uses], Phonon [248 power, 14 uses]

Raja (Level 42, 145 Def, 104 Res)
Equipment: Silvcirclt, Silvshield, Silvshield, Silv-Mantl
Techs: Gires, Gisar
Skills: St.Fire [230 power, 6 uses]

Kyra (Level 42, 165 Def, 88 Res)
Equipment: Silv-Crown, Silvshield, Silvshield, Silv-Mantl
Techs: Foi [88 power], Gires
Skills: Hewn [180 power, 10 uses], Warla [6 uses], Tandle [244 power, 2 uses]

Really, any of them could be perfectly viable against the final boss. With Raja's lack of Miracle/Regen/Ataraxia/Nasar and relatively low def he might be one of the harder ones for a change. And without a helmet, Gryz will be a glass cannon.

As things are now, I believe Demi would be hardest. There are a few electric attacks at the end, no android head gear, and no access to Recover. Repair-Kits are available but I think it'll be easier to keep a modest supply and depend on my humanoids.
Hahn will be easiest in my opinion. Great stats and lots of Astral that he can use with Chaz.
