This session was played on or around November 14, 2017.

We are starting the Floating Continent with Relm the knight, Shadow the thief, Celes the white mage and Setzer the black mage. I noted that in my younger days, I used to frequently try to creep my characters' HP values over 1000 at this point since the Blow Fish / 1000 Needles attack used by some enemies here does 1000 damage, and it seems like it ought to be survivable. My characters aren't particularly close to 1000 maximum HP! Naturally, since I discussed this, I never actually saw the Blow Fish attack here.

I decided to fight Gigantos, even though I don't think he has any prizes that do me any good. I decided to play it a bit smart and had Celes cast Vanish on the entire team so that we couldn't be harmed. That was nice.
Making a fool of Gigantos
Unfortunately, this does make me more vulnerable to magic attacks in subsequent battles... and the Pray command will nullify it completely. Despite some level of effort, my invisibility was done by the end of the next battle.

I got Snorted by Dragons considerably more than I remember from all of my prior playthroughs. I think this might be caused by my team's reliance on regular attacks. All four party members were consecutively removed from battle by Snort on three different occasions.

I prefaced the battle with Ultima Weapon by saying, "Normally, this is a magic battle". I didn't really explain that further, but Ultima Weapon uses a ton of spells and most of them have natural counters; using Shell (or Zoneseek), Reflect (or Carbuncle) and Float are really useful here. Even in this wacky, defined-role-based version of this battle, I was really glad I took the time to cast Float! I still tried to get Shell on the team, too. There was a lot that went well, although I was also subjected to things like W.Wind that forced a bit of a scramble to recover. Shadow landed the final blow with a thrown Hawkeye.
We beat Ultima Weapon

For the timed sequence after Ultima Weapon, I only had three characters; there was no way to do otherwise while following my rules, really. Since it's timed, I found this part pretty stressful. After the first battle I remembered to give Relm a fire-elemental weapon, which helped. I also got multiple consecutive back-attacks, which did not help. I had two minutes left when it was time to fight Nerapa/Nelapa. That fight didn't go well, per se (Setzer reflected a spell on himself and spent most of the fight face-down), but I won with about one minute left. I got to the edge with 0:10 on the clock, which is the closest I've ever been!
Just in time for the end of the world!
Of course, I picked "Wait!!" regardless.

Then some things happened, and I got to the town of Albrook with Celes. The shopping here doesn't do Celes any particular favours, and I skipped Tzen so that I wouldn't have two white mages. With one party member - especially one outfitted as a white mage - battles can turn around pretty quickly, so I played pretty cautiously in general at this part.

In Nikeah, I encountered a bit of a situation. Celes talked to Gerad the first two times, and when she went to talk to him a third time, the game locked up with no dialogue on screen. I reasoned based on how that dialogue normally proceeds that you might need to recruit Sabin, so I went to Tzen and recruited Sabin anyway. This would break my challenge rules, but I've opted to keep one of them dead to observe my rules as well as possible. I then returned to Nikeah only to find that the issue was not fixed by recruiting Sabin. It turns out that this was a widely-experienced bug in this particular release of Ted Woolsey Uncensored Edition in combination with the editor I used for the other changes.

I applied a fix and then re-started the stream.
The bug sucked, but I appreciate RodimusPrimal providing such a quick suggestion for a fix.

Now, I didn't have a save with only Celes in it, unfortunately - I probably should've accounted for it. I decided to continue to keep one of Sabin or Celes dead at all times, and thus only having one active white mage in the party... a problem which would end up solved by the time we have the airship, roughly two dungeons later.
In a way there was some minor good in this, from a gameplay perspective. Celes had learned pretty well every spell available to her, whereas Sabin still needed to learn a fair bit of magic... although this didn't end up mattering very much since I ran from pretty much every battle until the next boss.

For the battle with the Tentacles, I went with a normal loadout for Sabin like what I would use if I had solo Celes here: equip Ribbon and RunningShoes so that you can't be grabbed. Edgar got some generic, knightly equipment, and he was able to attack various tentacles hitting weaknesses and generally making things work. Sabin broke a few rods to speed the battle along.
Two brothers beating up tentacles
I was surprised at how well it went, actually!

We travelled to Kohlingen and picked up our black mage, Setzer. We don't have a thief yet, so Celes is just going to stay dead.
The current party status
It won't be long!
