This update is about my fourth play session of my first Four Job Fiesta, played on July 11, 2017.

I started with the Town of Ruin, where I said, "This part of the game is very... Sephiroth-y".
We did the cutscenes, grabbed the mini spell, beat Cray Claw in two attacks without breaking a rod, and ended up with an airship. Unlike a lot of Final Fantasy games, this doesn't really open up the world a ton, especially since we just recently had a black chocobo. We just proceeded to the adamantite quest part.
We beat Adamantoise.
No problemo. Well, Adamantoise was somewhat of a problemo for Bartssz, who was the victim of chained critical attacks right before the battle ended.

Once again, I had controller problems in that I literally couldn't figure out how to get the airship to rise up to the floating Ronkan Ruins and had to mess with some settings and had to reload the game to do it. Ah well, we solved that. Some parties can have legitimate struggles with this Rocket Launcher / Flame Thrower part but I wasn't worried. If it got bad, we always have rods. There was somewhat of a close call due to Bartsz getting confused and killing himself once, but it still wasn't super hard. At least not until the Soul Cannon itself.

I thought Soul Cannon would be easy; Bartzs'z Coral Sword attacks were doing over 1400 damage! But very quickly, he was inflicted with the "old" status, which dropped his damage to the 900s, then the 400s, then the 300s. After the party ate their second Wave Cannon blast, we were down to Faris and Lenna, so I decided Lenna would break a Thunder Rod. Even that didn't finish it off, so after a third Wave Cannon blast that miraculously missed Lenna, she won with the rest of her team dead by breaking a third Thunder Rod.
This guy withstood a lot of lightning.
Yikes. I guess there are some close calls.

I was quite confused through the Ronkan Ruins. There were some things I remembered but lots of things I didn't, like how to access that one large treasure room and the fact that Ghidras are really strong, have reflect, and absorb lightning attacks. I managed and eventually reached Archeoaevis.

Keeping up with Archeoaevis' damage was tough. Besides Galuf using the Healing Staff, I had Faris throwing out Hi-Potions every so often as well. The changing weaknesses were annoying but given the knight's general attack power (and the fact that he was inflicting old with his sword) it wasn't so bad.

The confusion it was inflicting in its final phase did leave us with some sticky situations:
Bartz is confused and paralyzed, Faris and Lenna are dead, and Galuf is unemployed.
It didn't get better from here; I didn't realize that the final phase is the physically weak one, and kept trying to revive Lenna to hit it with spells, which was a big error. It's quite interesting that the big difference maker (from my perceptions at the time) was that I hadn't unlocked white mage yet, but that was happening pretty much immediately after this battle.

The second attempt went much better. I think I even realized that I had been approaching that final phase incorrectly as I equipped Lenna with a knife so she could stab Archeoaevis.
Defeated by stabbing! What a way to go.

With that, we maybe sort of doomed the world but also unlocked the white mage job for Galuf. Then he left. Awesome.

Next up are the three adamantite meteor miniboss thingies. Against Purobolos, we had Lenna use two smashed Frost Rods. Amusingly, one Purobolos survived and used Self-Destruct dealing 8 damage.

Against Titan, although I considered strategies like Gaelicats to mitigate Earth Shaker, I wasn't sure if I had any way to do that. Instead I just tried to weather it naturally, which worked.
We took the brunt of Earth Shaker, but won.

Chimera Brain wasn't anything particularly interesting. I decided to play a piano (which is funny, it's not actually going to do this party any favours) and then proceed to Galuf's world.
Prison break!
We did the prison break sequence but saved for the day before crossing the Big Bridge. At least it was a tiny taste of Galuf as a white mage. We even got to miniaturize Gilgamesh!
Mini Gilgamesh.
