Once again, there's a bit of a poor audio mix such that you can't hear me very well throughout.

Having just earned the knight job for Ingus to use from here on out, it was quickly evident that he was badly lagging behind other characters in terms of what he could contribute in battle. I was intentionally drawing out some battles while he used his Guard ability in order for him to gain job levels a bit more rapidly. Besides knights' poor agility, job levels are really his only deficiency but since they play into several of the game's algorithms they were really impactful, most notably with his number of hits each round. Trying to "catch him up", however, is somewhat stupid, since job levels are gained by taking actions and there isn't much of a curve to it, meaning the other characters were advancing by more-or-less the same extent. Oh well.
Ingus status at level 19 Refia's status at level 19 Luneth's status at level 19
For some reason I didn't inspect Arc's status at all at this point, although I guess it doesn't matter. Although the main stats and job level are shown, the impacts of these are... not obvious. I got Ingus' job level up to 15 in random battles before proceeding. In general, his job levels will tend to grow the slowest of all of us because of two factors:
(a) different jobs are configured to need different numbers of actions to level up than others, where knight is a little slower than thief but faster than mages; and
(b) since knights are the slowest of our jobs, Ingus will tend to take fewer actions in battle on average.

The next place I went was Tokkul, the village where you get abducted and sent into Castle Hyne. Shortly within that area there's a point where you need to use Mini to proceed, but it's a bit funny because you don't need to stay tiny after passing through, so I just removed that status right away and played things normally. Our selected jobs are still pretty normal for this part of the game so there's not much in the way of strategic interest. Ingus was starting to be generally stronger in combat than Refia partway through, which became a bit more noticeable after picking up the Royal Sword.

Now Hyne/Hein might've been interesting, given that his weakness shifts. It's one of those fights that - particularly in the original version - was designed around the use of a specific class, in this case the scholar, who can constantly check enemy weaknesses. We were able to use Arc's Libra spells to do this, at least a few times. I also had Ingus and Refia attack, and it was weak but not insignificant.
About 100 damage; weak but not insignificant.

When Arc identified an ice weakness, I had the team use the Antarctic Wind items we had found while Luneth cast Blizzara. The Antarctic Wind items did 700 damage or more, depending on who used it, and Luneth's Blizzara did about 1000. With two rounds of this action, we didn't need to cast Libra a second time and I certainly didn't feel like I missed having a scholar on the team.
1052 damage from Blizzara. We beat Hyne!

We visited some places and people to get the Fang of Wind and the Wheel of Time and then went to visit Cid again. Then we found out we were all raised in Cid's orphanage and developed amnesia from our guardian forces or something like that.
Our new airship has a lot of limitations; it still can't go over mountains... but I guess it won't stop us from flying off the edge of the world as we know it, so that's nice. I fought several random battles to earn back some money that I thought I might need in the unknown world below and finished for the day. In the course of those random battles, the team reached level 21.
