This session was played on October 8, 2018, just the next day from the previous, very short session.

Right away, we got another random battle in Zeklaus Desert against just two bombs and one skeleton. Quick n' easy, and Bartz earned level 24. Lenna has learned every black magic spell besides Fire 4 and Ice 4.

Now we're in the Grog Hill battle - the plot-based one, not the ten monk battle. There were six enemies who still had higher levels than my team, despite the grind in the previous session. The battle seemed to be going badly in early on, largely on account of the chemists' use of guns. I tried to steal them, but with no success. An enemy squire happened to have Steal Heart, as did their thief, and they charmed both Bartz and Faris at one point which was a pretty big swing, particularly when Faris stabbed Lenna to death.
"Don't do it Faris! Don't do it!"
We ended up with a game over from this point.

Getting a game over on a battle against enemies with these terrible jobs can be somewhat discouraging, but I ended up with one of the coolest moments of the entire run happening in my second attempt at this battle. The battle was better managed in general, but the truly exciting part was when some favourable positioning and some luck with knockback allowed Lenna to defeat four enemies at once with an Ice 3 spell.
Krile repositions the thief. All four enemies are given ice for their wounds.
With that very satisfying coincidence over with, we were left with only one enemy archer remaining... until that archer became a frog. We looted the enemies' stuff and broke the frog's speed down to 1 before finishing it off.

Next is Yardow Fort City, where we gain another barely-equipped chemist, this time named Rafa. I was hopeful that Faris might earn enough chemist JP to learn X-Potion in the next couple of battles. Rafa had some consecutive lucky dodges from the ninjas' thrown items, which is awfully lucky since we're supposed to protect her here.
Rafa is an artful dodger.
I said, "I sure hope I win, because that opening salvo going like that again is improbable!".
Most of my team is face-down.
We did not win. In fact, Rafa was the last one standing which is unusual.

For our second attempt, we at least considered some much better positioning for the start of the battle. Krile used Holy on a ninja nice and quickly, and Rafa survived with Faris' help. We did get multi-targetted by a couple of summons, though. Malak hit Bartz with a stick of innocence™ which allowed Lenna to target him with a spell hitting both Malak and an enemy ninja with a nice, strong spell.
The result of being hit with a stick of innocenceā„¢.
This helped a lot, but beating Malak doesn't end the battle. We had to manage a few characters' HP, and we charmed Brian the ninja, and then Lenna actually found a practical use case for Bolt 4 against the two summoners.
Bolt 4 was only okay.
It wasn't long before we were left with a single summoner left with nearly 0 MP. After how Rafa dodged so much at the beginning of the first attempt I thought we'd be unlikely to have that kind of success, but I suppose I was wrong! The one downside here is Bartz smashed the final summoner's White Robe when I would've been wise to steal it instead.

After the battle, there was a shop upgrade such that we could now purchase Golden Hairpins, Black Robes and White Robes. Getting the Black Robe ends up being pretty great for Lenna. That's where we stopped this time.
