This session was played on January 9, 2024.
Between play sessions, I had posted a little bit in the Four Job Fiesta Discord and user AndyPy pointed out to me that the weird layout of my characters and jobs as displayed on the site was just a caching error. Whoops. All good.

At the beginning, I was proceeding through the Train Graveyard. I was talking about how I had used my very last Tent, and without a white mage on the team at the moment I was a bit worried about running out of healing resources. I was stealing from enemies. On some occasions, I stay here and steal from enemies a lot because you can get Ethers, Ghost Hands, and the Striking Staff. I didn't stay too long and I said I wasn't going to specifically seek out Eligor to get the Striking Staff, but he showed up quite early on anyway!

We did this section really quickly and proceeded to the tower thing in Sector 7. There's a fellow there who sells items, so we bought a couple of Tents (although money is a bit tight). The team gets an off-the-record full heal here anyway though. Cloud the knight and Thiefa the teef don't have a ton of options for the battles on the tower.

Fighting Reno was quite easy. I questioned for a moment at the beginning whether I was going to be sorry I didn't have offensive magic, but Reno's pyramids get removed by physical attacks (unlike Bottomswell's bubble later on).

We did the golden shiny wire and went up the stairs in the Shinra Building. I failed pretty badly at the minigame-like floors, including getting Mayor Domino's password on the second try (but I was close) and totally not remembering how to get all three item coupons and missing the All materia there. D'oh.
Eventually, we went up and met Hojo.

We had to fight his sample fella with Red XIII, who I named "Black XII" because he's a black mage, "Black XIII" doesn't fit, and "Black 13" looks dumb. So now he's a red creature with a XIII tattoo named "Black XII". It's perfect. Barret was in the fight too. We mostly just focused on the main guy in the back row and it was generally simple. There was no defeat animation, really, it just kind of ended.

We quickly did the rest of the tower without issue. We ran into the guys you can steal Carbon Bangles from and a SOLDIER 3rd squad, but Thiefa wasn't in the party so I couldn't steal anything. With no way to change my team at this point, I'll just have to forego getting those right now. Oh well.
An oversight I made with my original planning is that the Hundred Gunner and Heli Gunner fight is the only battle in the game where Red XIII and Aeristh are forced to be in the party together. Whoops! They're both black mages for me... except that Aeris is, by the event rules, a freelancer. For just this battle, I unequipped her entirely and decided that this won't decertify the run. The battle was plain and easy. Red XIII used Bolt a lot, Barret shot when he wasn't healing.

Back in 2022, Rufus actually killed Cloud as a white mage, so I knew to be more careful with him this time. Cloud threw a Deadly Waste, which wasn't as strong as I wanted it to be. It poisoned Rufus and his dog but didn't deal particularly heavy damage. Throwing a second one defeated Dark Nation, which I guess is still good. From then on Cloud just attacked and won.

From here, we fled Midgar and fought Motor Ball. I wasn't able to pull any fire-resisting shenanigans or anything, so I brought Barriret and Aerice thinking the extra heals that Aerice would afford me would be useful. I did okay on the motorcycle escape and, although the Rolling Fire attack is awfully powerful, we beat Motor Ball without any issues.

I stole an Atomic Scissors and saved outside of Kalm.
