Final Fantasy "Ban Something" Part VII

This session started with a nice little recap of my equipment loadout and the restrictions imposed on me. I noted, for example, that it would still be nice to get a Cap but I was banned from entering any store that sells it.
With advice from LordMorgren and others, I decided to persist at least somewhat with the Earth Cave. The playthrough is already feeling really slow but I guess that comes from not being able to run. In a video that was 80 minutes I finished, like, half a dungeon.
I experienced a nasty paraplinking here. I think that's local FF1 jargon so allow me to explain: paraplinking is when you're fighting weak undead enemies who have the ability to sometimes paralyze a character when they strike them. When your armor is fairly good, they often do pitiful damage... but they can sort of stun-lock you with their paralyzing touch and then tap on your armor for 1 damage over and over until you die.
When they take it all the way, it takes forever without you really having any control over the situation and it's sort of demoralizing and/or embarrassing. Even fast-forwarding, it took quite a bit and I was just watching Tick's HP tick down, hoping that he would wake from paralysis and then resist further stuntouches. That this happened with just two enemies and when I was halfway back to town after leaving the Earth Cave was rather unlucky.

Otherwise, this session was okay. Pretty much the whole time was spent grinding giants (etc.) but I eventually decided to make some progress. Getting to and killing the vampire was pretty easy! I went and got the Rod.
This now leaves me with a decision: should I go for Crescent Lake again, or go for Lich? Which one am I more prepared for? Can I do either yet? I felt like I would want silver gear before Lich but I'm starting to think - with how easy the Vampire run was - that Lich might be easier than dozens of Pedes.
