The sixth session of this playthrough was played on September 22, 2018.
We started right before Lionel Castle. Instead of trying to go past Lionel Castle as I had discussed, I chose to jump right in. This first battle here is the one where Ramza/Faris is stuck on one side of the gate with Gafgarion. I thought my best bet was to steal his sword, but I started by using a potion instead since the odds of stealing the sword were really poor.
I carefully checked the damage for Lenna's first Bolt spell because, again, Rubber Shoes can be pretty common here. Lenna was able to take out one knight and one archer, and get another knight into critical status. We were doing well, although Gafgarion took out Faris and it was hard to keep her up. Eventually Krile timed a really effective Raise 2 spell on Faris, even though Krile herself was very weak.

In the meantime, the enemy summoner used up all of his MP. Faris opened the gate, but things weren't going great outside. Lenna and Bartz had both been knocked out, leaving Krile out there with two knights, a summoner, and an archer. Ramza was able to take out a knight, and Krile was able to revive Bartz and Lenna (with the help of a charmed archer).

Honestly, the tides turned rather quickly. And then... they turned back really quickly, when Lenna targetted a Bolt 3 on Gafgarion, who went and stood directly between Krile and Lenna causing Lenna to destroy our entire team.

On our second attempt, Lenna quickly killed the summoner as well as an archer. On her second turn, she killed two knights. It was almost kind of silly how much better it went, and how quickly that happened. Lenna defeated 5 of the 7 enemies. All that was left was Gafgarion and one knight... and then Faris stole Gafgarion's sword.

Again, the difference between these two attempts was staggering. We were okay after this. In fact, Faris and Bartz took the time to basically strip Gafgarion naked.

(We did get that Cross Helmet, too.)
Cardinal Draclau turned into Queklain and thus was our first real boss in the game. He did the thing he does and put death sentence on two of our characters immediately. Faris has no real options in this battle other than stabbing for 40 damage or using items. Queklain also showed us pretty quickly that he can knock Lenna out in a single physical attack. Krile had recently learned Reraise so we used that to counteract some of the death sentencces. It didn't really help; Queklain targetted Faris and Lenna with a Bio spell that pretty much ended it. The spell wasn't strong, but it was awfully opportune.

Attempt #2! We swapped some of the head equipment and accessories among Faris, Lenna and Krile hoping the stat bonuses might make a bit of a difference - we didn't have a lot of spare hats and a few had recently been broken by enemies.
This time, Queklain started with Bio 3 instead. Honestly, that's probably preferable to Nightmare. Unfortunately, Lenna used Counter Magic and shot Bio 3 back at Queklain... and Faris, who was next to Queklain. And that's how Faris went down.

With the Bio 3, a couple minor physicals, and then an empowered Bolt 3, we won... regardless of these silly circumstances.
That brings us to Chapter 3. We went shopping and made sure to get a couple extras of each of the useful equips that were available so we didn't end up in a situation where we ran short of equipment again. We also did some propositions in Igros during this break. Bartz has now mastered his knight job.
We ended up in a random battle in Sweegy Woods. It was just three enemies: a chocobo, a bomb, and a monk. Pretty pointless.

However, this little battle did seem to provide Lenna enough JP to learn Flare. And it was at least a bit funny since all three enemies were frogs by the end.
We went to Goland Coal City and met Olan / Orlan. Normally, you'd get to appreciate Galaxy Stop in this fight, but of course Olan is a chemist. There was a thief there whose Main Gauche I wanted to take, but she seemed to have worst compatibility with Faris. Faris seduced the enemy mediator, though, and he took out one of the thieves for us. As usual, there were frogs.

Once the enemies were nice and debilitated, we managed to steal both an Orichalcum and Germinas Boots a bit before they are normally available.

We had a bit of broken equipment, so we revisited equips before doing the interior battle. We were short one Triangle Hat, but we'll tolerate that.
