Final Fantasy Tactics Classic Jobs Part VII

We had just finished the battle at Goland Coal City and headed to Lesalia to meet with Zalbag. When we left, we had the battle with Zalmo the Heresy Examiner. This is an "assassination"-style battle where you only need to beat Zalmo to win. There are only six opponents and Alma's with us, for what that's worth, so in general I expected this to be a lot easier than many recent battles. Alma was knocked out right away... twice. There were ups and downs but it wasn't that interesting; eventually I got bored and Krile zapped Zalmo with Holy.

Next, more propositions and a bit of shopping. Faris was able to get pretty high PA with a Twist Headband and Judo Outfit.

We got a random battle at Zeklaus Desert against birds, a skeleton, a bomb and a minotaur; desert ecology is mysterious. In the wake of it, Krile had learned all priest abilities other than Cure 4.

For some reason, I decided to do a proposition in Dorter and then didn't save before walking back. I ended up in a second random battle in Zeklaus Desert but this time with Faris alone. It was just two birds and a bomb, so I wasn't completely pessimistic about it at first... but it didn't go well.

We did a few more Dorter propositions that popped up afterwards but with less stupidity.

On to the underground book storage at Orbonne Monastery. The first battle is against lancers, time mages, and a chemist. I was able to use a lot of enemy spells against them with positioning, which wasn't a huge difference-maker but it was satisfying. This battle was not a real obstacle.

I noticed here that many of the enemies were a few levels higher than my team. Lenna has been the highest levelled in general, and she's just level 22; some enemies here were level 24. Krile mastered her priest job.

On the next level, we battled Izlude along with knights, summoners and archers. This battle has high, partitioning walls, but I thought to give Bartz Germinas Boots for the occasion. We had a plan to take out Izlude quickly, but Faris and Lenna took a lot of damage very quickly and we couldn't recover. Game over.

I was puzzling about what to do here before even getting into the battle again, and I said aloud, "the answer is: cast Holy on Izlude". I gave Krile Germinas Boots and decided to go all-in on this plan.

This Holy spell wasn't predicted to outright kill Izlude, but we did have some other options... including a knight standing next to Izlude that Faris had seduced. Izlude guarded his subordinate's attack and Holy didn't real solve the problem... but it helped.

After this, Ramza was able to stab Izlude and end the battle.

The next battle I described in advance as having "little tunnels, and Wiegraf's there". Because of the changes I made for viability/fun's sake, it's technically possible to steal Wiegraf's weapon (again)... but Faris didn't succeed on her first turn. Lenna aimed a Flare at Wiegraf, but he dodged it.

Once again it seemed like Holy was the answer. Faris and Bartz were down but Krile and Lenna were having great success with their spells... until Krile was killed by a knight. There was no way to get everyone back on their feet fast enough, and I was preparing to take the "L" when Lenna connected a Bolt spell on Wiegraf. Given the "1" counters over both Faris and Bartz, this was probably her last shot, but she pulled it off!


Lenna learned Bolt 4 in the aftermath, and I bought some Wizard Rods and Power Sleeves. I went to the Fur Shop for the first time and realized that the patch that adds broken/stolen equipment to the Fur Shop also seemed to include the things I've broken or stolen off enemies. I guess that's cool?
