This sixth session was played on January 17, 2024. More than half way through the term of the challenge, and less than halfway through the game.
First things first: I quickly abandoned my plan to grind out some prizes from Battle Square having looked up when the person who sells GP at the Gold Saucer entrance shows up. I wasn't going to play a ton of crappy minigames for GP and thus it doesn't make any sense to do Battle Square. That said, I still needed to be here to progress the story, so it worked out. Though I hadn't been very intentional about it, we got to enjoy a night out with Tifa.

Next, I dropped into Bone Village for a bit of shopping and then went to the Temple of the Ancients. Along the way I happened to stop in the Mideel area because I remembered some interesting enemies being there that... maybe weren't. But I fought a few battles there regardless.

The Temple of the Ancients was okay. I was using a party of Cloud the knight, Aerice the black mage, and Barriert the white mage. Enemies were manageable. It was a tad disappointing when I'd use magic and find the spell absorbed or whatever, but despite Aeristh'z low level nothing was really hard. I was quite bad at the section with the tumbling blocks.
It felt nice to get Luck Plus materia here, since that's one of very few things my thieves can use. We also got Morph for Cloud.
I think I remembered where all of the big highlights of the clock room were and we blazed through that part. Even the Elevator Action segment in room VI went really fast! It was kind of a lucky coincidence. Having remembered my way through this area we got our first Ribbon, so that's pretty great.

For the Red Dragon, I gave Aerice the Fire Ring. It was very easy. It ended unceremoniously, but perhaps that level of ceremony was deserved.

Demons Gate was a bit more fun and challenging. First of all, I misremembered where and when that fight takes place.

We deployed Barrier and MBarrier in this fight and that helped a great deal. It got a little bit dicey near the end when we happened to fall victim to a Demon Rush attack right when Barrier had just worn off. After that, Cloud got his Limit Break and used Meteorain, which defeated the enemy while Aerice was still down from the Demon Rush. Oh well. I'm sure she'll come back.

I decided not to mess around with the Gold Saucer or anything else - not the least because navigating the world with the Tiny Bronco can be rather cumbersome - and after a small mishap collecting a Lunar Harp in the Bone Village we proceeded through the Sleeping Forest in pursuit of Aerice and Sephiroth. Aerice said she still wasn't feeling good after the Demons Gate, I guess (I am pretty sure the exact same thing happened to me in 2022), and then we had to fight JENOVA*Life.

As you can see, we had Cloud, Black XII, and Barriert for this fight. Black XII/Red XIII was equipped with a Water Ring. It was somewhat hard at points to keep up with the healing for Cloud and Barriert, especially through our own MBarrier. Cloud's titanic HP total doesn't help with that. To a small extent, we benefitted from this thing's weakness to earth with Black XII casting Quake2, but generally we just stuck to traditional violence. The Water Ring makes this fight rather hard to lose anyway.

We watched the scenes and then I wanted to proceed a little bit. As I went through the caves but still before the overworld adjoining Icicle Inn... I ended up here:

You can definitely see it in my gameplay but it's probably not evident in the image that Cloud is 100% completely stuck here. Somehow I clipped into a normal-looking space that I was unable to move out of despite menus, walking/running and whole lot of spinning. I saved up shortly after this, saying I should wrap up as it was willed by a higher power. It happens to be pretty much exactly the end of Part 1/Disc 1 and the start of Part 2/Disc 2.
