Three months ago, I posted about my intent to play a Side Quest Challenge for the Pixel Remaster version of the original Final Fantasy, as popularized (?) by Diamond_Dragon back in 2019. In the meantime, I finished up what I was doing with Valkyrie Profile and Final Fantasy V's Four Job Fiesta, and then I recently shared my intent to play this Side Quest Challenge back to the GameFAQs Final Fantasy 1 board that spawned it years ago.

Having shared that about a week ago, a small number of new quests were generated and I've compiled a new list of quests on a Google Sheet that I'll attempt to keep updated. As of right now, there are 121 side quests! I finally started playing it on August 1st.

To briefly introduce this yet again, all weapons, armor and spells are locked and unusable until I do a side quest that unlocks them. The quests were generated by the community, which is mostly the FF1 board on GameFAQs. This includes some quests that I wrote myself but they were for Diamond_Dragon back in 2019. It also includes a small number of quests generated by one of my kids who was interested in this idea. (I am not particular about the medium or community that the quests come from, so I welcome quests anyone suggests in comments here or gives me via Bluesky.)

The little Python tkinter app I'm using to track things currently has its source sloppily managed on GitHub.

When I started, I picked a warrior named Cecil, a thief named Locke, a white mage named Lenna, and a black mage named Vivi. These are the same names Diamond_Dragon used, and while I didn't want to be a total ripoff it happens to work well for certain quests that make references to the other games that characters with those names are from. The Pixel Remaster starts the characters with some minor equipment, so I stripped that off and got down to questin'.

Title: Chain You Say?
Author: hawkeyerules (2020)
Story: After leading his party back to Cornelia one particular day, the party's fighter was relaxing in the Inn. As he was sipping some ale he overheard 2 guards talking about using chains to make armor. He went to the guards to Inquire about it.
Requirement: Talk to three guards within Castle Cornelia.
Unlocks: (a)Chain Mail

Checking the stats for the Chain Mail on Cecil.
This was nice because I was able to score the very nice early-game Chain Mail for my warrior before I even entered a battle, so I did it immediately. Some of hawkeyerules' quests were weird; even back in 2020, there were a few where they just were so trivial that Linguar82 or whomever had to add a bit more challenge or structure. Some of the other ones are just random collections of enemies to beat. But whatever, this one was welcome.

After this, I had to go weather a few fights with goblins with no weapons.
Fighting four goblins with no weapons.

Title: A Walk in the Park
AuthorDiamond_Dragon (2019)
Story: George is just starting his walking stick business. He thinks he can get his business up and running if he just has the right promotional assistance, and who better to show off his walking sticks than the legendary Light Warriors? George needs to make sure these Light Warriors can walk with style though, so he needs to see them take a few laps around Cornelia first.
Requirement: Walk 3 laps around the town of Cornelia without resting (inn/sleeping bag/tent/cabin/house).
Unlocks: (e)Staff

No problem! Although there was some tension in that it felt like the black mage might die during this. It is quite funny that having a Staff on a warrior, a white mage, and a black mage can seem like such an asset. After this quest, I said, "Boy, this is going to be a loooong playthrough.".
Cecil the warrior now has a Staff to whack enemies with.

Title: Stabbity Death
AuthorDiamond_Dragon (2020)
Story: The party's black mage had a vision, or nightmare rather, of a group of brave mages who conquered the world with their daggers. There were four, but their death toll numbered in the thousands. Could that truly be the way?
Requirement: Win a battle against exactly 4 Goblins. The party's black mage must be alive at the end of the battle.
Unlocks: (e)Knife

This was done incidentally, and made Locke the thief able to contribute a bit more effectively. Pixel Remaster seems to have the balance of Dawn of Souls and such, where thief accumulates hits really quickly and thus contributes a lot in terms of damage.

Title: Patrolling the Forest
Author: Shadow_FF6 (2019)
Story: Cornelian wood is known throughout the world for it's remarkable sturdiness. It's even used by many local commoners as a cheaper replacement for real weapons and armor. Unfortunately, the heavy Imp population has been causing real problems for the lumber industry as of late. The Carpenters Guild needs someone to check out the forest, and figure out which areas are safe to work in.
Requirement: Without using the Inn, take a step in every forest tile outside of Cornelia, noting each tile you get into a fight in. Completed upon stepping into the Weapon or Armor Shop.
Unlocks: (e)Nunchaku

This doesn't matter but I guess I wanted to get it off the list! As much as quests like this seem completely irrelevant, there's always a chance some new quest could emerge that's like, "Defeat [x] using only Nunchaku" so I may as well not ignore it completely.

Title: Ninja Vanish!
Author: FreshFeeling (2019)
Story: Supposedly, ninjas have the ability to disappear at will! A Thief can start to develop this ability using their keen dodging and escape abilities, and perhaps it will help to inspire their teammates, too.
Requirement: With a Thief at the front of the party, enter a battle and escape without taking damage three times. During these battles only the Thief may select the Run command.
Unlocks: (w)Invis

This was surprisingly quick-and-easy. Turn order seems to be fixed to be based around characters' agility values, and I even made use of the game's new Defend command to have the other characters skip their turns. This was sort of necessary, especially since this version removes the ability to use itemcasts for items that don't have itemcasts - in other words, there's no other means to fully "waste" a turn. I remain unsure whether the Defend command actually does anything (i.e. does it provide a defense boost?).
Obviously, I can't get Invis yet, but I got this quest off the list.

Title: Basic Magic Training
Author: Shadow_FF6 (2019)
Story: In the past, mages learned their trade in great colleges. However, while knowledge of magic still exists, there are few places to teach magical theory. Instead, most mages learn their trade out of necessity, in the right circumstances. Heating camp fires, keeping rations chilled, and mending the scrapes and bruises of the hike go a long way to encouraging young mages to learn their trade quickly.
Requirement: Head to the northern part of the Cornelian forest and pitch a Tent.
Unlocks: (b)Fire

A funny thing about Pixel Remaster (and other newer versions of the game) is that what used to be called a "Tent" is now a "Sleeping Bag" and what used to be called a "Cabin" is now a "Tent". For the sake of this quest I decided to follow to-the-letter and used an actual Tent. On a somewhat related note, this was around the point where I started shouting about how every new release of this game gets easier.

Title: Double, Double, Toil and Trouble
Authorbeege_man (2020)
Story: The party's black mage stumbles into a dark shed behind the Black Magic shop and bumps into a cackling witch feverishly working over a cauldron. Unfortunately the cauldron only has water in it for now. The witch explains that she needs some spider legs, a few Goblin Guard claws, and a horse's tail to craft a potion that will allow someone to put their foes to sleep.
Requirement: Kill 1 Black Widow, 2 Goblin Guards, and 1 Crazy Horse
Unlocks: (b)Sleep

I happened into the Goblin Guards and Crazy Horse before I remembered that this quest existed, and once I spotted it I wandered up into the Temple of Chaos to find a Black Widow. It was my second fight there! Very nice. At this point, I think my characters were already level 3. Cecil and Locke died before we got back to town; I revived them and actually healed them manually with Potions to avoid resetting my progress on the Goblin Guard quest. I should've used this opportunity to do the Pity of the Guard quest, but I forgot.

Around this point, I was saying, "Boy, there is something to this! There is something to this. It's the dumbest thing that I am going to say here: this is like, really satisfying... because I'm constantly unlocking things and that's, y'know, just naturally nice."
I may not have made the point very effectively but checking things off of a list and constantly making a form of progress feels really good. Later on, I elaborated on this. "There is something to be said for this as a format. Like, the feeling of doing stuff and getting something for it. Like, I really like the Xenoblade games and I'm starting to think maybe there's just something psychologically about that side quest-heavy format."

Title: An Old Man and His Cows
Author: FlamingXP (2025)
Requirement: Defeat 3 Goblin Guards in a forest.
Unlocks: (a)Leather Armor

At first I was just tracking the Goblin Guards (GrIMPs) I defeated, but then I encountered three of them together in a forest regardless, so this was fine.

Title: Spinning Wool Into Yarn
Author: FreshFeeling (2019)
Story: It would be easy to convince the shops in Cornelia to sell you cloth if only they hadn't run out of yarn. I guess the closest thing to a sheep that we see in this game is maybe a... horse? It will have to do. Once you've sheared the animals, you'll need to spin the wool to make yarn.
Requirement: Defeat 4 Crazy Horses. After defeating the fourth, rotate the control pad 5 times before leaving the world map.
Unlocks: (a)Clothes

This was done over four different encounters. I did a few extra rotations just to be sure and ended up in another encounter, which was sort of the point intended.

Title: Swing That Sword With Pride
Authorhawkeyerules (2020)
Story: While hitting things with a stick is an effective way to level up using metal would be much better.
Requirement: Kill 1 Gigas Worm in the Temple of Fiends.
Unlocks: (e)Rapier

I did this while I was doing the Foggy Memory quest. Gigas Worms actually hit fairly hard! Even the chain-equipped warrior took 19 damage.

Title: Laid to Rest
Author: Linguar82 (2019)
Story: Lisa has long performed the funeral rites for those who perish in the village of Cornelia. But its been reported that many of those dead now walk the halls of the temple to the northeast of Cornelia. She needs your help to lay those souls to rest.
Requirement: Defeat 10 Undead type monsters in the Temple of Fiends
Unlocks: (w)Dia

Although I'd hit a few weak undead enemies, it was two groups of four Zombies that allowed me to complete this during the Foggy Memory quest.

Title: Foggy Memory
AuthorDiamond_Dragon (2020)
Story: The party's white mage met an old wizard in Cornelia. He could teach them to use fog to protect their allies, but he forgot the correct incantation. He needs someone to perform a ritual to learn it. The white mage must go to the Temple of Fiends and examine the five doorways in the correct order, and return to him with the symbols on the door fresh in her memory.
Requirement: Touch the doors in the Temple of Fiends (stand in the space next to the door) in the order: SW, SE, NW, NE, and then the Center door, and return to Cornelia without resting (inn/sleeping bag/tent/cabin/house).
Unlocks: (w)Protect

I was about level 4 and with the unlocks from above the Temple of Chaos was no longer scary, so I did this. It ended up that about three or four quests were completed at the same time.

Title: You've Got The Touch
AuthorDiamond_Dragon (2020)
Story: Protecting your allies is great, but even the best wizards have yet to develop spells that grant total immunity. People can still be injured no matter how much FOG there is, and magic bedsheets aren't common in the field. Fortunately there are healing spells.
Requirement: End a battle with any two non-white mage characters below 20% of their maximum HP and return to an inn without them going above that threshold.
Unlocks: (w)Cure

As I walked back from the Foggy Memory quest, I was also eligible for this! Awesome. I bought both spells at the same time.

Title: How to Heal Properly
AuthorDiamond_Dragon (2020)
Story: The party's white mage has become frustrated. Healing these allies one at a time simply won't do.
Requirement: Restore HP to all four characters with the party's white mage when they are not at full HP in the same battle.
Unlocks: (w)Heal

Once I spotted this quest I realized it was pretty easy to get out of the way, so I did it while I was grinding Goblin Guards.

Title: Rare Drop from Goblin Guards
Author: FreshFeeling (2019)
Story: Aren't we glad that this game doesn't have 1/128 items? Well now it does. Sort of. The odds are better.
Requirement: Defeat at least 32 Goblin Guards between saves.
Unlocks: (e)Dagger

Well, I did this. It was annoying. I must admit that my 2019 self didn't always deliver. It's sort of barely worthwhile although I guess we won't know yet since the earliest Dagger is Elfheim.

Around this point I realized that side questing had actually left me dramatically over-prepared despite the limitations and that I really needed to get Garland down. I was level 7! That is kind of an absurd level for Garland. I had forgotten to get Rapiers, but it didn't matter. After an inn stay, we wandered up and beat him, which was stupid.
Vivi casts Fire on Garland. We defeated Garland!
We observed the bridge scene and wandered to Pravoka. I fought the pirates, but also did a couple of quests up front.

Title: Fashionista Mars
AuthorFreshFeeling (2025)
Requirement: Buy one of every available option at once at an armor store you have never visited before. In the event that you have visited every possible armor store, purchase two Ruby Armlets and two Protect Rings.
Unlocks: (a)Helm

I figured with all of the extra battles I had already done I was probably loaded with cash and I may as well get this done now! I bought everything in the Pravoka armor store. The Iron Armor there is pretty expensive and we can't use it yet, so it drained our cash.

Title: The Perfect Drink
AuthorFreshFeeling (2019)
Story: It would be nice to purchase the (b)Ice spell in Pravoka but there's an alcoholic woman passed out on the door. She says she would move if only she could have her favourite drink, made from the water of the fountain in Cornelia. It must be carefully carried without being spilled.
Requirement
: After visiting Pravoka, check the fountain in Cornelia. Designate a character to carry the drink. That character must walk to Pravoka without hitting being killed, petrified or stunned.
Unlocks: (b)Blizzard

This quest is actually a reference to a bizarre shrine quest in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It happened that I had a Zelda-lover in my chat so I explained this in some detail. In the midst of this quest, I made good on my statement that I'd reduce my experience gains to 0.5x using the Boost feature. I had said this on GameFAQs, and the idea is I don't want to be grossly over-levelled because then I don't need to do side quests to finish the playthrough. I am already seeing the effects of all of the extra monsters and such, so I think this was a good idea.

Title: You Underestimate My Sneakiness
Author: Diamond_Dragon (2020)
Story: Although only a thief, the party's thief occasionally he shows some promise towards becoming a ninja. The party's white mage is watching his silent methods and slowly learns to recreate it with magic.
Requirement
: With the party's white mage alive, the thief must kill an enemy in the first round of a fight in which you get the chance to strike first. Then the thief must flee the battle before he takes any damage.
Unlocks: (w)Silence

I carefully set this up during a pre-emptive I had against two Goblin Guards, one Goblin, one Wolf, and one Warg Wolf. It still required some luck, but it came together.

Title: Long, Narrow Things of Power
AuthorKingRamz (2019)
Story: Cyrus, the mohawk guy in Pravoka, has heard tales of a long, narrow peninsula that's not so far away from the town. Horrifying tales of beasts that should not be. You know, the sort of threat a self-respecting quartet of Light Warriors would be very interested in stopping. Cyrus is friends with the weapon shop owner in Elfheim, and if you can send those scary monsters packing, he'll tell you the secret phrase you can say to the weapon shop guy that'll get him to show you his best merchandise - a long, narrow, powerful sword.
Requirement
: Win two battles in a row at the (former) PNEoP without running away or resting (inn/sleeping bag/tent/cabin/house). After the second victory, return to Pravoka without a TPK and talk to Cyrus.
Unlocks: (e)Mythril Sword

and

Title: Thor's Courage
AuthorDiamond_Dragon (2020)
Story: The party's white mage looked out at the horizon. A thunder cloud was rolling in, the perfect time to impress the deity, Thor.
Requirement
: Walk from Pravoka to the (former) PNEoP and back to Pravoka with the white mage leading the party. The white mage must stay alive the entire trip.
Unlocks: (w)NulShock

I decided to do these two PNEoP quests at the same time. Seeing as this version of the game solved the domain mapping bug, it's really easy. It occurs to me that I never actually talked to Cyrus at the end so I better make sure to do that before I try to claim a Mythril Sword.

Now it was time to fight the pirates. They have beards in this version! They've also been buffed substantially, which surprised me. They still weren't tough at all though.
Vivi casts Sleep on the eight surviving Pirates.

With the ship I started a new batch of quests, gradually starting work on the awkward quest to get Fira since that would make so many quests faster and easier. Fira is also a pre-requisite for getting Thundara, so it's important. I also started tracking my dodges more carefully so I could earn the Blink spell.

Title: Honoring Erdrick I
Author: FreshFeeling (2019)
Story: Allegedly, a great hero named Erdrick who came from another world once saved that world and then died, only to somehow be interred in Elfheim. It is said that one of Erdrick's first weapons was a bamboo pole, wielded while he was wearing simple clothes. What better way of honoring this great hero could there be than laying a bamboo pole at his supposed grave site?
Requirement
: Bring a Staff and Clothes to Erdrick's grave in Elfheim, then Drop both.
Unlocks: (e)Battle Axe

Well, this is kind of weird for a few reasons. For one thing, it ain't Erdrick's grave in this version!
Visiting three graves. The message from one reads, "Here lies Link."
I'll overlook that. There's also the fact that this quest and a couple of others require you to drop items/equipment, and it turns out there's no way to do that in the Pixel Remaster. Instead, I just sold them. It's not going to make some significant financial difference, after all. I'm considering this quest met. I never actually got the Battle Axe, but seeing as Elfheim doesn't sell Mythril Swords in this version I might want to do that.

Title: IF ALL ELSE FAILS, USE FIRE
AuthorZzonkmiles (2019)
Story: The Light Warriors have heard tales about an enchanted plain northeast of Pravoka where there are legendary beasts that are many times more formidable than what can usually be found around the town. That doesn't exist anymore so let's cook seafood.
Requirement
: Kill 10 Sahagins damaged only by using the (b)Fire spell (eg. no other spells nor weapon attacks are allowed).
Unlocks: (b)Fira

It took two Fire spells to kill a single Sahagin, and Vivi currently has a maximum of 5 spell charges, so this took a few intentional trips to get it done. But it got done! Note that this is one of those quests that got edited because different versions don't have the same encounters at the PNEoP. This change was suggested by Zzonkmiles in post #58 in 2019.

Title: Captain's Prerogative
Author: Linguar82 (2019)
Story: Bikke is concerned that you may not be able to handle the life of a pira...err sailor. So he wants you to plun… err travel around the Aldi sea to prove your worth.
Requirement
: Sail to and dock at each port that can be reached without the use of the TNT canal without resting (inn/sleeping bag/tent/cabin/house).
Unlocks: (b)Scimitar

Title: Captain's Prerogative Bonus
AuthorLinguar82 (2019)
Story: You will particularly impress him if you also defeat all of the monsters of the Aldi Sea along the way.
Requirement
: Sail to and dock at each port that can be reached without the use of the TNT canal without resting (inn/sleeping bag/tent/cabin/house) or running away. Defeat at least 1 Buccaneer, 1 Sahagin, 1 Sahagin Chief, 1 Bigeyes, and 1 Shark during the trip. (This can be completed at the same time as Captain's Prerogitive.)
Unlocks: (a)Leather Cap

This was originally one quest with a "bonus feature" but I've taken steps to remove those to ease the tracking, so it's sort of two quests now. In any case, it was easy to do both at the same time. I am glad I had Fira for this trip! It really helped with swarms of Sahags and Buccaneers.

Title: Sneaky Sneaky Sir
Authorvp5489 (2019)
Story: The butler at Hotel Cornelia leads a double life. By day he's a loyal servant with a love of feet. By night he's a cunning rogue with a penchant for subterfuge. He's willing to teach you if you show that you're not an amatuer.
Requirement
: Evade 25 attacks.
Unlocks: (w)Blink

The large Sahagin swarms accelerated the pace at which we could see our team dodging attacks and eventually I tracked 25 of them. Done!

Title: Coppers and Robbers
Author: FreshFeeling (2019)
Story: Traders in the Aldi Sea have found that many ships have been attacked by pirates recently, and they are formalizing a unified Aldi Police Force among Cornelia, Pravoka and Elfheim in order to contain this thread to local trade. If you join their ranks, you, too, can wear the uniform of the "coppers". Solving the pirate problem would surely convince them to let the Light Warriors join.
Requirement
: Defeat at least 10 Buccaneers. Then, prove that the Buccaneer threat is dealt with by travelling between the ports at Cornelia, Pravoka and Elfheim in any order and finally speaking to any guard NPC all without encountering any more Buccaneers.
Unlocks: (a)Bronze Gloves

This quest made more sense when the Bronze Gloves were called Copper Gauntlets. Anyway, this was fine.

Title: Fight Like a Pirate
AuthorDiamond_Dragon (2020)
Story: True pirates fear nothing from the sea.
Requirement
: Defeat 10 Buccaneers, 2 Sharks, 12 Sahagins, and 2 Bigeyes.
Unlocks: (e)Saber

I hadn't even noticed this quest, honestly, but at this point I saw it and realized I had already done it. A freebie!

Title: An Old Man and His Worms
AuthorFlamingXP (2025)
Requirement: After completing An Old Man and His Cows, defeat at least 1 Gigas Worm while in view of a mountain tile. Return to a town while experiencing 3 or fewer encounters after the Gigas Worm.
Unlocks: (a)Leather Gloves

I wasn't intending to do this one, but it happens that on the way to my first visit to the dwarves I ran into some Gigas Worms with an Ogre. I had only just got off the ship so I was confident I could make it back to Cornelia. It worked out!

Title: Appreciating Nature: Dwarf Cave Edition
AuthorFreshFeeling (2019)
Story: There is a story told of Wood the fighter and his companions... his poor, poor companions who had to follow along with Wood while he insisted they inspect every darn tree in each forest they found on their journey to save the world. Wood even insisted that, because the dwarves didn't care for forested lands, they must inspect the forest adjoining the Dwarf Cave twice. If you walk in the footsteps of this legend, the dwarves may have a gift for you.
Requirement
: In a single trip to the Dwarf Cave, step in every single forest tile outside of the Dwarf Cave twice before proceeding inside.
Unlocks: (a)Steel Gloves

My stream dropped in the middle of this, so my record of it continues in a second video here. At first, I was walking through the wrong forest! I went through the one near the Dwarf Cave port rather than the one actually adjacent to the Dwarf Cave. Once I got to the correct forest it wasn't bad.

Title: Hammer Time
AuthorDiamond_Dragon (2020)
Story: Dwarves are known for their crafstmanship, metal hammers are no exception.
Requirement
: Talk to the Dwarf Smith.
Unlocks: (e)Hammer

Easy peasy.

Around this time, I wanted to wrap up... but I was affected by an urge to complete just one more quest. I really wanted to meet Matoya to start more quests involving her.
I briefly equipped a Leather Shield at this point, but I never used it in combat. Equipping it was an oversight; not only was it still locked, but there was no quest to unlock it! That's because I had two quests to unlock the Helm and one of the "Old Man" quests was supposed to do the Leather Shield instead. I've fixed that up between play sessions, but it didn't impact anything in the gameplay.
Cecil the warrior's equipment after Elfheim. Locke the thief's equipment after Elfheim.
Lenna the white mage's equipment after Elfheim. Vivi the black mage's equipment after Elfheim.
Lenna the white mage's magic at this point. Vivi the black mage's magic list at this point.

I really wanted to do Hey I Can Use That Too to unlock Thunder, which requires beating a formation of a single Shark. While I know that existed in the NES original, I hadn't encountered a lone Shark (hah) in my entire time playing thus far. I wandered around for like 10 more minutes looking for lonely Sharks and found none! I remembered those being pretty common. I guess the formations must have been adjusted for Pixel Remaster or something - I don't think this can be attributed to just bad luck. Anyway, I couldn't complete that and this ended up being where I left off!

Level 10 and we're more than ready for the Marsh Cave!
The party status at level 10 before going into the Marsh Cave.

Index | Next >
I concluded my 2025 FJF playthrough on July 23. After having done a bunch of it consecutively, it had been like two weeks since my last play session!

The first thing I wanted to do was defeat Omega! I have beaten both Omega and Shinryu before, but never during one of my Four Job Fiesta playthroughs. I've done it two or three times casually, which usually means high levels and all kinds of wacky stats and abilities available. Since I've got access to a chemist, though, it seemed pretty attainable to try it now... especially after reading Sulla's solo chemist shenangians.
Party status before Omega.

There were a few approaches I knew I could take here, including possibly just coming in with Hermes Sandals and singing Romeo's Ballad with three characters while the other does all the work. However, I thought it would be more fun to make myself immune to most of Omega's moveset, then buff, then take him down. Since I have a berserker, though, and since Omega has so many counters, I realized I'd need the berserker to be dead.

Unfortunately, Omega remains kind of hard. Even when you're immune to most of its moveset, Surge Beam / Wave Cannon takes out just over half of your max HP, and if Omega happens to get a double turn on you with that, you're just toast. On my first attempt, only the bard (Faris) was fast enough to heal to survive two rapid Wave Cannons. Really, I only need one person surviving to make this work so I tried to tough it out, but I left a gap in my healing and Faris lost.

On the next attempt, I was very quickly down to just Lenna the dragoon.
Lenna vs. Omega. Lenna has a lot of HP.
As I played, I kept referring to my plan. The plan was in a spreadsheet, sort of like this:
AbilityFormulaEffect
Wall Ring Reflect initial attacks, plus Delta Attack (33% chance turn 1, 5)
Speed DrinkTurtle Shell + Eye DropHaste
Goliath TonicDragon Fang + ElixirMore HP
Dragon KissMaiden Kiss + Dragon FangNullify Blaster (33% chance turn 1, 5), Maelstrom (33% chance turn 5), Rocket Punch (counter), Circle (counter)
LevitateMaiden Kiss + AntidoteNullify Quake (counter)
Resist FireEther + Eye DropAbsorb Atomic Ray (33% chance turn 1, 3, 7) and Emission 33% chance turn 7)
Dragon DefenseDragon Fang + Phoenix DownReduce damage from various attacks including Mustard Bomb
Turtle SoupTurtle Shell + AntidoteCut Omega's defenses

Basically, you need haste to keep up and Goliath Tonic provides some breathing room. Dragon Kiss nullifies a lot of the scariest attacks, including most of the counters. Levitate and Resist Fire nullify some other damaging moves, and Dragon Defense reduces a lot of what's left. You still can't do anything about Wave Cannon, so there's frequent healing.

Once I managed the buffs on this second attempt, Lenna's damage was still terrible.
Lenna does 0 damage to Omega.
Omega absorbs the Holy Lance, and is weak against the Trident (although that's absurdly weak). The Chicken Knife is an option, but I forget whether you might be able to run away. What I ultimately decided on was using Turtle Soup / Split Shell again and again to cut Omega's defenses.

If the bard barely outsped Omega, what hope would a dragoon have? Well, I just had to heal a bit more aggressively... but as a bonus, dragoons jump!
Lenna jumps on Omega for 7744 damage.
Once I was set up like this, things were pretty stable! And Lenna won.
Lenna the chemically-inclined dragoon has defeated Omega. We got the Omega Badge!

Pretty cool!
After that, all of the Void bosses must be pretty simple, right?
We fought Apanda. We defeated Apanda.
We beat Apanda. I don't really remember anything particularly interesting about this fight. Most of our damage comes from Bartz as our berserker and Lenna the dragoon, so in a lot of these fights I had my supporters using Hero's Rime and Sinewy Etude to enhance their damage.

Next, we entered the castle. We got the Thor Hammer here, which is nice. It enhances the berserker's tankiness by allowing them to stay in the back row. Otherwise, nothing too exciting. I wanted to open up the save point here though, so I fought the optional Azulmagia.
Azulmagia uses ??? for 9999 damage. This happened more than once.
This fight was kind of terrible. I was so happy to avoid things like Level 5 Death, only for multiple members to get affected by Level 2 Old or Discord and have their level altered to be killed. There was a lot of death! Thankfully, however, few of the strong attacks were multi-target so keeping up with healing was okay. It was on the sloppy side compared to the rigid plan I concocted for Omega, but we won anyway.
We defeated Azulmagia.
We fought a couple of those Aevis guys to get treasure chests but the dancer items aren't going to be doing us any good.

Next up was Catastrophe. I had wanted to be floating before the fight, but I forgot. The Levitate mix is Maiden's Kiss + Antidote, so I started using it right away... only to find that Catastrophe wasn't okay with that and kept using 100 Gs to remove my floating.
Catastrophe uses 100 Gs to de-float Faris the bard.
This resulted in one of these really stupid fights where - with auto-battle on - three characters just attacked while one levitated over and over again. Catastrophe was locked into removing the float status, and thus it didn't actually manage to use Earthquake. At all.
We defeated this dumb idiot.

There was Halicarnassus. I kept talking about special strategies like coming in as a frog or reflecting the strong spells but it didn't matter at all. The fight was just a slugfest, and an easy one at that.
We defeated Halicarnassus.

I was kind of nervous about Twintania. Despite clobbering a lot of bosses, including Omega (who is clearly stronger) there are a few things that can go wrong. Twintania uses Tidal Wave as a counter to many attacks, and Giga Flare isn't fun to be slapped around with.
Fighting Twintania.
I didn't rush, and threw on a lot of buffs. It would've been smart to put on Coral Rings, but I forgot. We had Dragon Defense up for Shell, and I used mixes to absorb a few elements, too. Still, when the message popped up that he was charging Giga Flare, I got scared and mixed up a Death Potion (Phoenix Down + Dark Matter).
We Death Potion'd Twintania.
It felt a bit cheap, honestly, especially after all of that preparation I put in. Oh well.

I didn't want to go all the way back to the save point and I wasn't very afraid of Gilgamesh or Necrophobe, so I just proceeded.
This fella looks familiar. We, um, were abandoned by Gilgamesh?
I happened to get a Genji Shield too, although my Aegis Shields are mostly better.

Necrophobe was just silly. Normally, he can be pretty hard; I've certainly struggled with him in the past. However, we've got Death Potion. It struck me as hilarious that he started bragging about his invincible barriers when three of the four were already dead.
The game is paused, but maybe you can see that Necrophobe is gloating despite most of the barriers being gone.
With the barriers down, the rest was easy.
We Death Potion'd the barriers... Gilgamesh showed up for the big party. We defeated Necrophobe!
We managed to get the Genji Armor from Gilgamesh, too!
Checking out the Genji Armor. Party status at endgame.

I thought it was a good idea to use this. Necrophobe was blocking the final save point, so we're up to the final bosses. The Genji Armor provides a couple of status immunities and I thought that would be useful.

My plan for the final bosses was to kill off the berserker and try to idle and throw out some mix buffs while the bard boosts our stats a whole lot. This happens to just be awesome, since the first form of Exdeath has very few attacks until his HP get low, and since the buffs all carry through into the final form.

The bad news is: White Hole is a pretty nasty attack. Instant Death and Petrify!
Two party members are down now. I guess I'm responsible for one of those.
I knew I could mitigate this by getting my level very high with Hero's Rime, but that wasn't paying off, at least not quickly. I then tried using Dragon's Kiss and Lifeshield. Eventually I seemed to be able to avoid the effects of White Hole. I applied lots of buffs and pumped my level substantially before reviving Faris the berserker. Surprisingly, the level boost had clearly affected her as well.
Faris does 4864 damage to Exdeath. We defeated this form of Exdeath.

The level boosts and Dragon Defense were going to help bigtime with Neo Exdeath! I didn't have a real plan here, although I did look up a diagram of the four segments of this final form.
Facing Neo Exdeath. Lenna uses Succubus Kiss to damage and heal.
Krile did a bit more singing here. I tried to spread around the damage so we wouldn't have to endure whichever segment was last for long. The Apollo Harp was incredibly strong against the dragon section on the back.
Krile does 9999 damage with Apollo's Harp.
We were really strong! It wasn't very hard with all of the buffs we wandered in with.
Victory! We defeated Neo Exdeath.
Victory!

There's one more loose end though. I think I can beat Shinryu without too much effort. I saved a clear save.
Unfortunately, it turns out the clear save puts you back on the overworld map for some reason. Well, I did some shopping for consumables and went back in. I had the brilliant (not) idea of pumping experience and turning encounters off until the end of the Void, where I would hunt for Dragon Lances from Crystal Dragons.

Then things got dumb! I was going to save at the final save point only to find that Necrophobe was back.
A better screenshot of Necrophobe being a big idiot.
Interesting. The Pixel Remaster version of the game allows you to get unlimited Genji Armor. I wasn't lucky enough with my steal, unfortunately.

I fought battles in the Void here, but didn't realize for a while that there's no experience points in the final sections. I barely ran into any Crystal Dragons and didn't get a Dragon Lance. I figured, after a little while, I'd be better off at least taking a crack at Shinryu. However, Shinryu uses a few level-based attacks so I knew I really wanted to be level 43, 47, 49, or 53.
Level grinding the party to even levels.
You can count on me to get bored quickly though! 43 it is.

I didn't have a neat plan ready for fighting Shinryu like I did with Omega... so I made a new spreadsheet on the spot, which was like this:
AbilityFormula
Coral Ring
Speed DrinkTurtle Shell + Eye Drop
Goliath TonicDragon Fang + Elixir
Dragon DefenseDragon Fang + Phoenix Down
Resist IcePhoenix Down + Antidote
Resist ThunderPhoenix Down + Eye Drop
LifeshieldPhoenix Down + Holy Water
Dragon KissMaiden Kiss + Dragon Fang
Resist PoisonEther + Antidote
Turtle SoupTurtle Shell + Antidote
Succubus KissMaiden Kiss + Turtle Shell
The Coral Ring negates the strong, initial Tidal Wave and also grants immunity to fire. Resist Ice and Resist Thunder would negate other attacks. Dragon Defense helps with a lot, our level being 43 helps, and Lifeshield can help with Roulette. Even Dragon's Kiss was pretty good since there are some Maelstroms. This legitimately negated Shinryu's entire moveset other than his rather nasty physical attacks, but the team had Protect and was in the back row. We had to heal a bit...
Using X-Potion to heal vs. Shinryu.
...but really, the absorbed attacks, regen ticks, and Succubus Kiss met most of our healing needs. It was quite surprisingly stable.
Bartz the dragoon uses Turtle Soup to reduce Shinryu's defenses. Lenna the chemist uses Succubus Kiss to attack.
I was really careful not to alter my level with Dragon Power and Hero's Rime! It would be tragic if I boosted my level to improve my damage only to get hit with Level 5 Death or Level 2 Old. Instead, when Krile the bard had time to sing she mostly sang Sinewy Etude. And, before long, we won!
We defeated Shinryu! We got the Dragon Seal. We even got to collect the sword, Ragnarok!

Well, that's that!
A snap of the Four Job Fiesta page showing my run with little completion stamps for Exdeath, Shinryu, and Omega.
It's my first time beating the superbosses in a Four Job Fiesta run, mostly enabled by the busted nature of the chemist. We did all of it at the not-profound-but-modest level of 43, as well.
Status at level 43, having beaten all the bosses.

It was fun having two jobs that are trivially boring, and two jobs that are rather game-breaking but harder to use. This was an interesting team and a good run. I'm glad I picked Volcano as my run "type" to get these freakier jobs, or at least to avoid knight and colour mages. Given this was also my first playthrough of the Pixel Remaster version of this game, I can say I've got no complaints about it.

After several consecutive days of play the week prior, I got back to this run on July 5, 2025. This session was accidentally kind of grindy, and probably moreso than needed... which means it was on the boring side. Oh well, it happens.

First, I went to Drakenvale as planned and shored up my supply of Dragon Fangs.
I got some Dragon Fangs in Drakenvale.
I did a few little party swaps to try to find optimal ways to take down the encounters here, but mostly it involved the dragoon jumping (since I overlooked my very nice Holy Lance in favour of the Chicken Knife - whoops), the berserker using Rune Axe or Gaia Hammer, the chemist throwing out Romeo's Ballad and the bard attacking with Apollo's Harp. I may have made it a bit too efficient, actually, since I had no idea I had past 99 Dragon Fangs.
Inventory after Drakenvale with 99 Dragon Fangs.

I had earned a fair bit of money so I went to the Phantom Village again and grabbed three more Coral Rings. If I want to fight Shinryu, and I think I will, then I'll need those. In the short term they might be fun against Leviathan.

Then I went to Istory Falls. Instead of using my brain or a death effect on the Gargoyles, I just had a hasted bard using Romeo's Ballad to keep them unable to resurrect.
I beat my third pair of Gargoyles pretty easily.
Istory Falls was mostly pretty easy. A few of the encounters were bulky - like Tonberries, although those never actually hurt me - or otherwise tricky like the martial artist fellows who turn you old with Air Fist. There was nothing scary nor especially exciting in any way. We got a second Aegis Shield, a third Protect Ring, a fourth Reflect Ring, and a nice, new Titan's Axe.
We got a Titan's Axe. Here's the berserker's loadout.

We got to Leviathan, which is just kind of funny. The animation of the water and appearance of Leviathan is maybe nicer in this version but it's still not entirely clear what happened to the red fellow.
What happened to that charming red guy?
I decided to fight Leviathan. It's very easy to just walk away, and the fight brings me no benefit, but since I could do it with four Coral Rings equipped I thought it might be fun.
Green numbers mean fun.
Leviathan isn't harmless and this fight wasn't entirely trivial, but fun was indeed had since Tidal Waves now healed my team. We didn't have any complexity in our offense and won handily.
We defeated Leviathan.

Since I had a third tablet, I went back to the Sealed Castle at Kuza and picked three more weapons. None of these do anything for me so I compulsively made sure 9 consecutive weapons along the circumference of the room were used. I actually ended up selling several of them for a cash infusion afterward.
These three weapons will go un-unsealed.
Since I was here, I realized the Exdeath's Soul enemies here drop Dark Matters and are quite susceptible to the Holy Lance, the Sage Staff, and especially Apollo's Harp. I decided to do a minor Dark Matter grind, too. This required a LOT of healing at the pot in the first room, but didn't use any consumable resources so I think it was a win in general.
We got a Dark Matter.
I had taken some time to get more Turtle Shells as well (just south of Tycoon) and I spent my legendary weapon money on consumables, so I'm feeling quite prepared for the game's final areas.
My inventory after getting all those goodies.
This grinding, by the way, got the team very close to having mastered their jobs. We had all mastered bard a while ago, and chemist absolutely seems to be the slowest, but we're getting there. Given the relative lack of syngergies in these jobs though it doesn't matter too much. I believe Faris was the first to master all of our jobs and that happened during this play session.

I spent nearly 2 hours between the grindy parts and Istory Falls! I wanted to make at least a bit of progress into the Void.
I entered the Void via Tycoon.
Enemies in the first few areas of the void were pretty easy. My bard was able to lock down nearly every enemy with Romeo's Ballad, helped out by some Hermes Sandals. In the forest section, some enemies were less prone to Romeo's Ballad and were generally bulkier, like Moss Fungus.
Romeo's Ballad was very effective here.

It didn't take long to get to the first boss here, Naked Lady II: Electricalofisteri.
We encountered Calofisteri. We are fighting Calofisteri who uses Drain a lot.
There are some really good strategies you can use in this fight, like Bone Mail and Reflect. I didn't think to do any special preparation. After a while I had Krile the chemist and Faris the bard both sing buffing songs and just had Bartz the berserker and Lenna the dragoon slaughter her with high-damage physical attacks. Easy peasy.
We defeated Calofisteri.

Due to time constraints, I had to be done, despite the limited obvious progress today. I saved at the save point before Omega.
My status at the save point just before Omega.
I also did most of my equipment and ability preparations for Omega. I'm going to give fighting Omega an honest shot right away next time I play! I've realized, though, that I should probably go in with my berserker dead so that I can get my defenses in place before triggering Omega's potentially overwhelming counter attacks.

I guess I'm some kind of daily streamer or something at the moment. I played again on June 26.

I started from the midway save point in Exdeath's Castle at the end of Galuf's world. The fights were nice and balanced, although I hate having to walk on lava (not that it would justify a geomancer or anything). I didn't do too badly at the skull-filled mystery floor, and ended up fighting Carbuncle, which truly does nothing for my team.
Carbuncle banishes Faris.
I used a few Mixes to enhance the team's effectiveness. I know Carbuncle technically has two forms and that's probably why his defenses seemed to oscillate so much. Eventually he did Banish Faris successfully, but otherwise it was quite an easy battle.
We defeated Carbuncle.

We grabbed the Partisan and fought Gilgamesh. He kept turning us into tiny people or amphibians, but it also wasn't very hard. Some use of Mix accelerated the battle but, again, it felt easy. In fact I was pretty surprised when the battle ended.
We defeated morphed Gilgamesh!

Battles here were mostly conducted with the chemist (Bartz) joining the berserker (Krile) and dragoon (Faris) on the offense, while the bard (Lenna) sang songs mostly to lock down enemies with Romeo's Ballad. Every so often something weird would happen, like a Black Warlock reflecting Confuse onto itself, then casting Break on its own ally, but the ally was a Reflect Mage, and consequently this confused enemy petrified someone on my team. Very silly.
This was a silly scenario caused by Reflect.

For Exdeath, we started with Dragon Kiss which I had intended to nullify Condemn. However, I don't think we saw very much Condemn. Really, I would've been much smarter to just go on the offense instead of buffing as much as I did, since once I went fully offensive the fight ended quite quickly. With Reflect Rings on 3 party members and Dragon Defense on the other, this was safe and easy.
Exdeath cast only a few spells that damaged himself. We defeated Exdeath.

We went into the merged world, which is great fun. At the beginning, I kept Krile as a berserker and Bartz as a chemist, and they had no problem defeating the Antlion.
We defeated the Antlion.
We met Exdeath's splinter form, where, perhaps fittingly, there's a wedged-in TMNT reference.
Ghido says, "You think I sat around seven centuries munching on pizza?"
Before entering the Pyramid, I went to Moore and collected the Chicken Knife.
I got the Chicken Knife in this very normal scene.
I then backtracked to the lower levels of the Ancient Library and ran away a lot for about 15 minutes to fully power up the Chicken Knife. It has a lot of utility as a very high-powered and defense-ignoring weapon, but one usually wants a way to work around its significant downside of randomly escaping. I realized that being berserk doesn't prevent this, so my only option was the Jump command. That actually worked fairly well!

I tried coming up with some strategies to defeat the guardian Gargoyles at the same time, only to get strangely lucky and have my berserker proc the Death Sickle's death effect on them consecutively, ending the fight with no effort. We gained a lot of job levels at once from this, coincidentally.
We had some unusual luck with these Gargoyles. We beat the Gargoyles and powered up a fair bit.

For the Pyramid, I recalled one time skipping tons of treasure and then returning once Lenna had rejoined in order to make the dungeon a little bit easier and keep Lenna's level better paced. I was going to do that, but then I had very little trouble here making progress and getting treasure such that I pretty much emptied this place out after all. There was a Crystal Armor in a chest, and then I was surprised to get a second from Sekret almost right away.
Bartz is a berserker wearing Crystal Armor. Faris is a dragoon wearing Crystal Armor.
There was great treasure here. I'll be able to make good use of the Black Robe, White Robe, Black Garb, and especially the Gaia Hammer. Since my berserkers are using Equip Harps to get a moderate boost to their magic, the Gaia Hammer's earthquake effect should be pretty potent.

We had to fight the rather immodest Melusine shortly after completing the Pyramid. We just used Reflect Rings and Dragon Defense, plus some other Mixes to speed things up, and won with brute force where possible and a little bit of Succubus Kiss on the side for magic damage. It was fine.
Succubus Kiss does 1862 non-elemental damage. We defeated Melusine.

The world opens up a lot at this point and I had some goodies to gather! I went to the Phantom Village / Mirage and got the Thief Knife, two Hermes Shoes, and the eighth piano. We had a little jaunt to Crescent after that and completed the list of songs.
The team is collectively a piano master! We had learned all 8 songs.
We also collected our first three sealed weapons: Holy Lance, Assassin's Dagger, and Apollo's Harp. The only other two that can even be equipped by my team are the Rune Axe and the Sage Staff. I sort of regretted the choice of Holy Lance, even though it's a fairly good weapon, but it won't usually be better than the Chicken Knife.
We got the Holy Lance, and compared it to the Chicken Knife.

Exdeath sicced some awesome-looking demons on us...
Exdeath has a cool goon squad.
...and then we got the Magic Lamp and the Mirage Vest before entering the Island Shrine.

The Island Shrine was okay. There are some bulky enemies here like Tot Aevis that aren't fun to fight, and the Executors were pretty annoying on a few occasions. The Pantera miniboss-in-a-box was a surprise to me: I didn't remember it existing at all, and it was actually a pretty challenging fight.
We fought this Pantera thing.
Treasure here was okay. My favourite thing I got was a second Protect Ring. Right now, the Protect Rings are on the chemist and the bard.

I encountered Wendigo (aka Stalker?) next.
We encountered Wendigo. Wendigo hit us with Frost probably 50+ times
As with a few of the last several bosses, I sort of over-prepared with Mix and made the entire team absorb the Frost counter attacks (eventually). Often when I've fought this enemy, I use multi-target attacks and just take the counters, but I don't actually have any multi-target attacks... so it took a long time, especially given that I couldn't control the berserker.
The battle ended pretty suddenly. Wendigo didn't do the thing I've seen in the past where the main target dies a bit before the clones, and it doesn't have a boss death animation.
The battle with Wendigo proceeds, very safely. We defeated Wendigo!

I wanted to do the Fork Tower to open up Catapult, so I did that next. As always, I mixed up the physical and magical towers the first time. I ran quite a bit, especially since I had pretty much zero magical offense: anything that couldn't be killed with a single Mix would counter.
I was trying to run but I can't run and screenshot at the same time.
I was nervous about my strategy for Minotaur, but it turns out my Hermes Sandal-wearing berserker and dragoon were just able to kick its butt.
We stood up to Minotaur. We defeated Minotaur.
Omniscient actually took two tries, and it did Reset the battle a couple of times as well. What ended up working, in the end, was going in with Reflect Rings, using Mix and Drink to get defensive buffs (Protect, double HP, Haste...) and then using Mix to berserk Omniscient, then using Mix to blind Omniscient, and powering up a little bit and whittling him down with terrible physical attacks from my chemist and bard while stopping to heal as necessary. It was slow but safe... and really, not that slow, since Omniscient actually has quite low HP.
We beat up Omniscient. Beating up Omniscient worked, eventually.
With that, we got Flare and Holy and, more importantly, got our airship upgraded to an airship/submarine.
We got Flare and Holy! This does nothing for us.

The next thing we will be doing is restocking Dragon Fangs and then Istory Falls. I don't want to do the Deep Sea Trench at all so that will be our last major stop before the Void.

This time of year lends itself nicely to me playing games, so I kept my run going on June 25th. I was starting from the Barrier Tower.

In the Barrier Tower, I ended up getting three Reflect Rings from Reflect Knights. I mostly had my berserker, dragoon, and chemist attack (the chemist doesn't contribute a whole lot) while the bard used Romeo's Ballad to lock down the enemies.
Fights in the Barrier Tower looked like this.
I was joined in the stream by rpg_haste, who I hadn't really met but raided the day previous and convinced to do a Fiesta run when they hadn't intended to. Discussing with them was pretty amusing, in part because they got considerably worse jobs assigned than myself.

The Red Dragon was no real problem at all; three characters had Flame Rings equipped and I used the Resist Fire Mix on the fourth. We got a Gold Hairpin but it doesn't actually do anything for this team.

For Atomos, I figured I'd just buff like crazy and let the berserker end the fight! I hadn't done special preparation like coming in with a dead party member, but I figured I'd let the dragoon die. With some luck, this happened! Faris the bard sang Swift Song, Lenna the chemist gave Galuf the berserker a couple Mixes of Dragon Power, and then the fight was fairly quick.
Galuf does 3150 damage to Atomos.
Unfortunately, I got nervous about Bartz being devoured and revived him and Atomos' Comet attacks ended up killing Galuf, undoing most of the buffs after a few of these ~3000 damage wallops. We won, but it wasn't an incredibly decisive victory.
We defeated Atomos.

We did Ghido's cave and didn't win any special staves from the Metamorphs there. It's quite a boring little dungeon but you get to poke a turtle at the end.
Bartz says, "Well I'll be a biscuit-eater! It's a talking turtle!"
We also took this opportunity to meet and acquire Catoblepas although this certainly doesn't actually do anything for us.
We encountered Catoblepas. We defeated Catoblepas!

Moore is a delightful place to reach with mages, but it wasn't that exciting for this team. We got some equipment and we sort of benefit from Air Knives. I got the second Main Gauche and realized I should be using that more with my chemist and bard since Main Gauches are useful defensively and their physical attacks are rarely going to matter.

Moore Forest was nice. The battles were a little bit slow, but easy. We took less damage on average than we did in Barrier Tower using a similar strategy. The Air Knives were quite effective here.
We fight in Moore Forest.
When the forest caught fire, we got the Aegis Shield and I put it on Galuf the berserker. When I fought the seal guardian crystal thingies, I had a whole plan! I gave Galuf the Death Sickle in case he could get the death effect, which works here. I had Flame Rings on three characters, so I Mixed Resist Fire onto the fourth so everyone would absorb fire, and I'd also use the Mix that causes float to avoid the earth crystal thing's attacks. But to start, I wanted to get the water crystal out of there, so I was going to Mix up a Death Potion for it.

I felt like my plan was falling apart when Galuf got a Death Sickle proc immediately on the back crystal, which I thought was the fire one!
Uh oh. Berserker immediately killed a crystal.
While insta-killing a boss is generally welcome, I thought it was too bad my planning and preparation would be for naught! Thankfully, my planning and preparation were poor; it turns out the back crystal is the wind one and the fire and earth ones were still in play! The chemist killed the front (water) crystal and then we were fully immune to the remaining crystals' attacks. It was actually quite an awesome fight.
We fully absorbed with Firaga attack. This Earth Shaker attack was fully negated.

When Galuf fought Exdeath, it was pretty neat that Galuf got knocked to 0 HP, then generously healed by Firaga, and then his Aegis Shield blocked several spells such that the only thing that knocked him out again was the Meteor spell. It was as if Galuf was just about going to survive! (Yeah, I've seen a few people do that.)
Galuf is mad at Exdeath.

While I wanted to get Exdeath's Castle (Meatfort) done, time wasn't on my side with some light family commitments. I ended up just doing the first half. The stream once again had issues just in the last 15 minutes or so, so there are a couple of very short addendum videos posted (session 4.1, 4.2, and 4.3).

The trip into Exdeath's Castle was going well, I would say! We got a Power Staff drop from a Dark Warlock and encounters were manageable and mostly faster than the last few dungeons. When Bartz became my bard, I gave him Equip Spears for a big strength boost so he could contribute on the offense in random encounters. This worked pretty nicely.
We got to the halfway point in Exdeath's Castle. Status in Exdeath's Castle, at levels 33 and 34.
I saved at the halfway point and we'll pick up from there next.
